improvements, copper-to-fiber migrations, green energy investments, building
improvements and changes in fleet operations.
• Supply Chain - Verizon’s supplier code of conduct concerns itself with issues such as
child labour, forced labour, discrimination, freedom of association, use of conflicted
materials etc.
• Also focuses on product responsibility, employee welfare and ethical corporate
governance
• Connect Communication – Aims to narrow the digital divide due to unbalanced
information infrastructure. Provide stable network connection for natural disasters
and major events.
• Connect Innovation - Promoted use of IoT and cloud computing and built innovation
platforms for their partners in order to support entrepreneurship and innovation.

• Connect Green - Undertook implementation of the Green Action Plan to promote
energy-saving measures throughout all operational processes. In 2015 they reduced
overall energy consumption per unit of information flow by 17.5% compared to 2014

solving transportation, water and power problems for them, in order to improve local
infrastructure, production and living conditions.

Sustainable practices
• Each one teach one day:This initiative drives internet literacy in India by initiating first time internet
users to the world of internet.
• OneTouch Internet’Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) is an application with tutorials on how to
use the internet, targeting first time internet users.
• e-Shakti:A digital literacy mission for the women of Madhya Pradesh. A similar initiative earlier
benefitted the women of Andhra Pradesh. More than 1 lakh aspirants have been benefitted
through each mission.
• Airtel money: An initiative aimed at bringing unbanked citizens into mainstream through financial
inclusion.
• Collaboration with Swadhar Finserve:This initiative aimed to serve economically active, urban poor
women to enable them to repay their monthly loan installments usingAirtel money.
• IFFCO Kisan Sanchar Limited (IKSL):Through this initiative farmers are provided with crucial
information on weather, commodity prices, agronomy,horticulture, government schemes, etc.This
information helps them make timely, informed decisions.
Overview of results achieved
• Over 20% reduction in CO2 emissions per terabyte in its network infrastructure in Financial
Year (FY) 14-15 as against FY 13-14, representing over 60% reduction since year 2011.
• Over 4% reduction in CO2 from energy per rack in its data center operations in FY 13-14 as
compared to FY 12-13, representing 8.7% reduction since year 2011-12.
• Conducted quality education programs which have successfully impacted over 51,000 rural
children through 254 Satya Bharti Schools, 334 learning centres and the quality support
program. In addition over 4,000 children have been mainstreamed in the Government
schools.
• 94% of Indian suppliers have over 71% local procurement (in terms of value) [driving local
procurement]
• Touched the lives of over 85% subscribers in India spread across 5121 census towns and
464,045 non-census towns and villages.
• Over 10% reduction in physical paper bills from FY 13-14 and reduction of over 700 Mn sheets
of paper since FY 11-12, making progress towards their target of zero paper wastage from
their operations.
Starhub’s practises
• My StarHub e-Bill: Initiative to encourage customers to switch from
receiving printed bills to electronic statements, saved an estimated
2,306kg of paper.
• Board Portal:The Board Portal, implemented in 2013, completely
replaces all hard copy Board papers with electronic versions
continues to save paper (2000 sheets annually).
• Sustainable Paper:The company uses sustainably sourced Forest
Stewardship Council (FSC) Certified paper for internal use to reduce
impact on forests.They have reduced their FSC paper usage from
53,230kg (2014) to 40,065kg (2015).

Networked Transportation: Providing a safe and convenient transportation environment through real-time based data
analysis with vehicles and road infrastructure and contributing to advanced logistics transportation and reduction of
expenses for transportation congestion
Carbon Management Strategy: In order to accomplish the vision of 'Green KT, Green KOREA' and contribute to the
achievement of the national GHG reduction target, KT Corp is actively executing the carbon management strategy with an
aim to reduce the GHG emissions by 35% compared to the emissions of 2007
• Celebrating June as ‘Tata Sustainability Month’ to promote sustainable business practices
across its offices
• social responsibility and sustainability are core considerations, in keeping with the code of
conduct of theTata Group by following a responsible business growth model.
• Educate – the employees are made aware about the company’s initiatives on sustainability ,
Engage – invites employees and their families to come up and share their sustainable practices
Embrace – small and regular actions, generate habits around these best practices that are
beneficial for society
• Conducting sustainability awareness sessions for the students associated with their NGO
partners.
• For safe disposal of e-waste, an employee e-waste collection drive has been initiated,
employees are encouraged to take up a SMART21 challenge.

• Technology implementation at all the data centres to improve the
power usage efficiency
• Noise pollution and Radiation are within the Limited 6 permissible limit
of Reliance Communications, however the company is closely
monitoring the pollution level.
• Reliance vendors providing goods/ services need to obey the local laws.
Selection of a product will include efforts to be put on environment
friendliness, less consumption of power.
• Currently around 60% of reliance’s inputs are sourced sustainably.

It leverages IoT products such as Telecommuting (Travel substitution), Telematics (Transport efficiency solutions), Intelligent Building Management ( 4.7-7.3 Metric tonne CO2 emission avoidance in 2015) . • Environment – Responsible reporting and emission reduction by data center improvements, copper-to-fiber migrations, green energy investments, building improvements and changes in fleet operations. • Supply Chain - Verizon’s supplier code of conduct concerns itself with issues such as child labour, forced labour, discrimination, freedom of association, use of conflicted materials etc. • Also focuses on product responsibility, employee welfare and ethical corporate governance

Provide stable network connection for natural disasters and major events. • Connect Innovation - Promoted use of IoT and cloud computing and built innovation platforms for their partners in order to support entrepreneurship and innovation. Provided network infrastructure in strategic areas to help Chinese enterprises operate globally • Connect Green - Undertook implementation of the Green Action Plan to promote energy-saving measures throughout all operational processes. In 2015 they reduced overall energy consumption per unit of information flow by 17.5% compared to 2014 • Connect Prospect - Provided targeted aid to counties in poverty.They focused on solving transportation, water and power problems for them, in order to improve local infrastructure, production and living conditions. • Connect Growth –This is focused on employee care activities and employee career development

Sustainable practices • Each one teach one day:This initiative drives internet literacy in India by initiating first time internet users to the world of internet. • OneTouch Internet’Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) is an application with tutorials on how to use the internet, targeting first time internet users. • e-Shakti:A digital literacy mission for the women of Madhya Pradesh. A similar initiative earlier benefitted the women of Andhra Pradesh. More than 1 lakh aspirants have been benefitted through each mission. • Airtel money: An initiative aimed at bringing unbanked citizens into mainstream through financial inclusion. • Collaboration with Swadhar Finserve:This initiative aimed to serve economically active, urban poor women to enable them to repay their monthly loan installments usingAirtel money. • IFFCO Kisan Sanchar Limited (IKSL):Through this initiative farmers are provided with crucial information on weather, commodity prices, agronomy,horticulture, government schemes, etc.This information helps them make timely, informed decisions.

Overview of results achieved • Over 20% reduction in CO2 emissions per terabyte in its network infrastructure in Financial Year (FY) 14-15 as against FY 13-14, representing over 60% reduction since year 2011. • Over 4% reduction in CO2 from energy per rack in its data center operations in FY 13-14 as compared to FY 12-13, representing 8.7% reduction since year 2011-12. • Conducted quality education programs which have successfully impacted over 51,000 rural children through 254 Satya Bharti Schools, 334 learning centres and the quality support program. In addition over 4,000 children have been mainstreamed in the Government schools. • 94% of Indian suppliers have over 71% local procurement (in terms of value) [driving local procurement] • Touched the lives of over 85% subscribers in India spread across 5121 census towns and 464,045 non-census towns and villages. • Over 10% reduction in physical paper bills from FY 13-14 and reduction of over 700 Mn sheets of paper since FY 11-12, making progress towards their target of zero paper wastage from their operations.

Starhub’s practises • My StarHub e-Bill: Initiative to encourage customers to switch from receiving printed bills to electronic statements, saved an estimated 2,306kg of paper. • Board Portal:The Board Portal, implemented in 2013, completely replaces all hard copy Board papers with electronic versions continues to save paper (2000 sheets annually). • Sustainable Paper:The company uses sustainably sourced Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certified paper for internal use to reduce impact on forests.They have reduced their FSC paper usage from 53,230kg (2014) to 40,065kg (2015).

Internet of Things (IoT): Providing various IoT services, such as GiGA IoT Home Fitness that can track your physical exercise on TV, GiGA IoT Home Cam for monitoring home safely, and GiGA IoT Home Manager that can control major home terminals from a distance Life-enhancing Care: Providing customized care services by collecting and managing health-related information by utilizing capability for IoT, Big Data. Developing customized treatment for characteristics of the human genome. Networked Transportation: Providing a safe and convenient transportation environment through real-time based data analysis with vehicles and road infrastructure and contributing to advanced logistics transportation and reduction of expenses for transportation congestion Carbon Management Strategy: In order to accomplish the vision of 'Green KT, Green KOREA' and contribute to the achievement of the national GHG reduction target, KT Corp is actively executing the carbon management strategy with an aim to reduce the GHG emissions by 35% compared to the emissions of 2007
  • 14. • Celebrating June as ‘Tata Sustainability Month’ to promote sustainable business practices across its offices • social responsibility and sustainability are core considerations, in keeping with the code of conduct of theTata Group by following a responsible business growth model. • Educate – the employees are made aware about the company’s initiatives on sustainability , Engage – invites employees and their families to come up and share their sustainable practices Embrace – small and regular actions, generate habits around these best practices that are beneficial for society • Conducting sustainability awareness sessions for the students associated with their NGO partners. • For safe disposal of e-waste, an employee e-waste collection drive has been initiated, employees are encouraged to take up a SMART21 challenge. 1. Developing a view point as to howTATA measures itself on the scale of sustainability. 2. Impact on both business as well as individuals by development of sustainable practices. 3. Inspire people to adopt sustainable practices in their lives.
  • 15. • Technology implementation at all the data centres to improve the power usage efficiency • Noise pollution and Radiation are within the Limited 6 permissible limit of Reliance Communications, however the company is closely monitoring the pollution level. • Reliance vendors providing goods/ services need to obey the local laws. Selection of a product will include efforts to be put on environment friendliness, less consumption of power. • Currently around 60% of reliance’s inputs are sourced sustainably.
