Into The Future In Harmony With Nature
Water Table Improvement Procedures
The last few decades has witnessed immense depletion of ground water both in
quality and quantity. Nature lovers deeply worry about what is going to be left to the
next generation? Their thoughts get aptly reflected by an ancient Native American
Red Indian proverb - "We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors, we
borrow it from our Children”. There are many economic and political reasons for
this depressing scenario. Getting into those is not the motive of this article. This
article focuses on a simple technique used by our ancient Indian ancestors to
improve the ground water table.
Yes, a simple technique given to us by our ancestors could bring water to even
deserts and can improve the quality of ground water even in areas where hard and
salty water is common.
The following are required for this technique:
1. A tamarind tree. (It would be better if the tree is old and matured; Even an
younger tree would serve the purpose)
2. A pure zinc tube/pipe of 1 ft in length
3. A non-insulated pure copper wire of size 12-14 SWG (a thick wire that’s used
for earthing of electrical equipments) of 12ft length.
Tamarind Tree:
Tamarind tree cools the earth while at the same time heats/warms the atmosphere.
Conversely, Neem tree cools the atmosphere while providing warmth to the earth.
Hence, our knowledgeable forefathers planted neem trees near houses in villages

while tamarind trees were usually planted at the outskirts of villages. Water usually
gets attracted towards cooler and shady areas. Hence, tamarind tree attracts
underground water flow towards it, as it cools the earth.
Copper & Zinc:
Copper & Zinc have feminine and masculine properties respectively in them. Copper
helps to retain moisture to the ground and it has been observed that water in
copper vessels are free from harmful micro organisms Along with Zinc, Copper
provides life and fertility to earth through the combination of Masculine and
Feminine energies.
Contrastingly, Iron removes fertility from the earth. It oxidizes and destroys the life
energy in the soil. Hence, it is to be noted that while our ancestors were great in
metallurgy, only wooden tools were used in agriculture i.e the plough was made of
wooden materials only.
The Method:
1. Identify & select a young root of the tamarind tree that travels
laterally/sideways in the ground i.e the root that’s selected should not be the
taproot. This root would be under the ground even though it grows sideways.
Without damaging the root excavate the earth around it for a few feet.
2. Take a pure Zinc pipe/tube for about one foot in length. Drill two holes on
the tube such that the tube’s length is divided into three i.e. the length
between the two holes and the length from each hole to the nearest end
(outward end) of the bar are equal.

3. Tightly wind a copper wire of around 2 – 3 ft in length from one of the holes
to the zinc tube’s nearest end. The other end of the copper wire should be
winded to the selected root of the tamarind tree in such a way that when the
root grows, the wire would become so entangled and entwined along with the
root without difference.
4. Now take another copper wire and wind the wire from the other hole of the
tube towards the exterior side of the tube. The other end of the copper wire
should be inserted vertically, deeply downwards the ground for about 7ft -9ft
deep (depending on the terrain of the soil where this is done). This is similar
to how electrical equipments would be earthed to the ground through a
copper wire.
5. Now the entire setup would be like this. A winding copper wire would start
from one of the roots of the tamarind tree and would be winded to one end
of the zinc tube/pipe. Another copper wire would be winded from the other
end of the zinc tube and would be inserted deeply to the ground.
6. Now cover the entire setup with mud so that nothing is visible outside.
7. A picture describing this set-up is shown below. (Page 4)
Once this is complete the following changes would be visible within 6
months to 1 year from the day of completion:
1. The tamarind tree would attract water and the ground water level
would improve for at least 5 to 8 km radius around the tree. The
ground water’s quality would continue to improve and even hard
water would soften and become potable.
2. The fertility of the soil in that area would largely improve and farm
outputs would start to rise.
3. The tamarind tree’s yield would also rise extra-ordinarily.

Note: If and only if Zinc tube is unavailable, Aluminium tube can be used instead of zinc.
It is to be noted that the above mentioned method was already
successfully implemented in Arakkonam, a town near Chennai and
the said results were observed. We, at SUKA Foundation can
personally come and guide the implementation of the method.
