Today:
• Leveraging your digital presence: Social selling,
content creation, professionalism
• Networking, self promotion, organizations
• Tools, etiquette, tips.
11. LEVERAGING LINKEDIN
Do!
1. Fill out your profile completely and professionally
• Utilize every field, vanity URLs
• Headline and headshot
2. Ask to be connected by a close mutual connection
• Proper intro messaging (coming later)
3. Promptly connect with someone you meet; context!
4. Utilize the Publisher!
5. Ask for recommendations, give
recommendations/endorsements; join groups
6. Link to projects, work samples, social accounts, etc.
Don’t!
1. Send a connection request w/o meeting
2. Assume that a mutual connection wants to help you
3. Share unprofessional news and updates
12. LEVERAGING TWITTER
Do!
1. Fill out your bio with interests, passions, employer
2. Choose a handle consistent across channels
3. Follow aspirational and interesting brands/influencers
4. Share successes of others
• Social currency, touch points. Earn it!
5. Look to RT/Quote RT content rather than self curating
6. Find a way to “barge” in on conversations
7. Look at your Twitter analytics, utilize the search query
8. Humble brag
Don’t!
1. Tweet over ~10x in one day
2. Use auto-dms
3. Assume you’re the #1 expert. Anyone on Twitter can
find/see your words. Be open to changing your perspective.

issues they’re having
• Everyone’s uncomfortable

Editor's Notes
Think about how you can leverage this in your specific industry. Mine is more social and digital marketing related
A little bit about me…born in atlanta, grew up in east cobb, a bit of my childhood in denmark
Pope high school
Marketing major = general
session will include:utilizing LinkedIn, Twitter, and various online presences for your personal branding, networking tips, organizations/associations to consider, plus additional resources/tools/tips
Tip #1 – secure your personal domain and social accounts … build thought leadership
LinkedIn is not your resume. Tell your story here. Connections = credible, Publisher = thought leadership
Clean it up, first and foremost. scarcity
Build thought leadership and credibility.
Check those privacy settings! Up to you.
Passion for newsletters just to see what’s cool and going on in the space, what’s bubbling up. Clients you want, examples you want to see. Competitions, etc.
Look for speaking engagements, content/thought leadership to show off
Don’t have to, but is kind of cool. Shows skills.
Email sig with social, etc.
It’s an Art! Think about how you want your “brand” to be represented…every touch point!
