Liver function tests are used to evaluate liver health and detect possible liver diseases. Bilirubin is mainly produced from the breakdown of hemoglobin by the mononuclear phagocyte system, with some bilirubin coming from ineffective red blood cell production and the metabolism of heme-containing proteins like myoglobin. A presentation on liver function tests was given by Rina Akter, Nayma Ali Ador, and Himadri Ghosh from the 19th batch of Gonoshasthaya Samaj Vittik Medical College.

Most bilirubin is fornmed from haemoglobin by
the mononuclear phagocyte system. Some
