The Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation hosts an Indian music concert called "Ekal Sur Ekal Taal" in Edison, New Jersey on June 17, 2017 to raise funds for schools in rural India run by the organization. The concert at Middlesex County College will feature tribal music, dancing, Bollywood melodies and folk dances. Proceeds will support one-teacher schoolhouses in India that operate on $1 per day.
2. INTRODUCTION
An experienced business leader, Shreenivas Shah
oversees operations at BabyVision, Inc., the parent
company of such brands as Hudson Baby, Yoga Sprout,
and Luvable Friends. In addition to his professional
pursuits, Shreenivas Shah supports the Ekal Vidyalaya
Foundation.
The Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation emerged out of the need
for improved educational resources in the rural and tribal
areas of India. Several scholars began working on a
solution in the 1980s, and today, the organization
supports a number of schools throughout the country.
These institutions uniquely feature one volunteer teacher,
and classes are available to students of all ages day and
night.
3. EKAL VIDYALAYA
In order to support its efforts and help each school
achieve self-sustainment, the Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation
hosts several fundraising events in countries around the
world. One such gathering will take place in Edison, New
Jersey, on June 17, 2017. Ekal Sur Ekal Taal will begin at
3:00 PM at Middlesex County College, and the program
will feature a variety of performances of tribal music and
dancing, including Bollywood melodies and folk dances.
Funding from the event will support one-teacher
schoolhouses, which operate on the equivalent of one US
