A presentation about the scholarship program in support of the K-8 Episcopal school in the village of El Pedregal in the Dominican Republic.

1. MissionTrip to the
Dominican Republic
June 7-14, 2014

2. We went to the Episcopal camp and conference center in
El Pedregal (see red marker A).

3. The Dominican Episcopal camp is much like our
Honey Creek, with dormitories and other buildings.

5. Our mission team had 15 members
from six Episcopal dioceses.

6. Padre Álvaro and his wife, Ángela, are the
administrators of the camp and work with mission teams.

grounds of the camp in El Pedregal.

8. One of our projects was to build a playground
for the schoolchildren.

9. We completed half of the playground, and the other
half was completed by another team from Nebraska.

10. Another one of our projects was to rebuild this
house for a family in the village.

12. We replaced the wooden house structure
with a concrete block structure.

13. Our team finished half of the house reconstruction,
and the second half was done by the Nebraska team.

14. Another project was to conduct knitting and
crocheting classes for the women of the village.

15. The goal of these classes was to teach the women how to
make items they could sell to support their families.

16. We worshiped with the congregation of the
Episcopal church in the village.

18. Passing the Peace is always a
joyous part of a Dominican Episcopal service.

19. Our mission team has a long history of working in this

spaces in the same room because the school is not big enough for its
current or planned enrollment.

32. These eighth-grade students are graduating this year and
will enroll in a public high school in a nearby city.

city.The cost of his education is supported by our mission team.

34. Our mission team presented Padre Álvaro andÁngela with
35 school scholarships for the 2014-15 academic year.

35. Each scholarship costs $350, and the scholarship program is
administered by the Episcopal Diocese of the Dominican Republic.

36. Scholarship donations may be made toTrinity Episcopal Church
(Statesboro) and the funds will be securely transferred to this school
in the Dominican Republic.
