Rice is one of major staple crop of more than half of world’s population. It provides 19 % of global human per capita energy According to 2013- 2014 report the area under rice production in India is 441.10 lakh hectares with the production of 105.48 million tones. Many reasons are responsible for fluctuation of rice production namely physical, biophysical, socio - economic and institutional causes. Many innovative methods are discovered to improve productivity of rice in India. Some of the techniques are System of Rice Intensification (SRI), Aerobic rice, Drip irrigation, laser leveling etc. These methods have produced greater yields than the conventional methods in many experimental and farmers plot.
