2. Why The First
Tee of
Miami??
I choose the First Tee as it’s a hard
working golf organization that helps better
the lifestyle of kids in local areas.
Especially with their partnership with the
Special Olympics where they help instruct
over 400 special Olympic individuals
My interest in golf and kids activities
creates a great mixture of both as I helped
with the First Tee
3. My History
with The First
Tee of Miami
• As part of the Men’s golf team we have
been helping out with the special
Olympics at The First Tee of Miami
• When I presented the idea of helping
out more of my time to the First Tee of
Miami as it related to with helping
children I was told that there were
more opportunities with the Special
Olympics help each week and to come
out and support the PGA Jr. League of
helping more skilled junior golfers
practice and play tournament golf.
4. First Tee
Fundraising
Country wide donation goal which funds
the individual chapter
First Tee of Miami is without a annual
funds and relies directly on personal
donations and volunteers
With the donations they are trying to
evolve the instruction and quality of
betterment for the total program
A large kickback from the home course
Melreese being host to the Lantino
America Shell Championship of $25,000
5. Marketing
Tools of The
First Tee
They have an online website that
has engagement with locals but
most of the current marketing is by
word of mouth
The board of directors for the First
Tee of Miami create the marketing
for the program and utilize word of
mouth within the golf community
Currently The First Tee of Miami
currently has no marketing
campaign
From the total size of their program
they are doing well and creating a
large impact for their community
and the continuation of praise
through word of mouth about the
outcome of previous participants
and to show off the true benefits of
the program
6. Donor
Database
I think they could create a gala like dinner for potential donors to raise funds for the
program and show any new individual the benefit their certain donation could have on
the overall activities
They usually only use word of mouth marketing campaigns to reach new people
They don’t have a specific staff member who is solely focused on donor relations and
solicitations as it becomes a rotating staff as anyone present can walk through and
show any potential donator what their money would go to
They identify new donors by online sign-up of promised donations
They currently use a generic data collection and paypal page attached to their website

official golf coach but has been a part of the program for 15

worked at a course in Orlando before moving back to Miami
Mike grew up in The First Tee program as a junior golfer which
as he got older he started helping out more and more and now

working in non-profits to start off with the basic level
volunteering in whatever aspect that interests you and keep at
it and eventually you will find the perfect fit he knows he has!
