Dear Dr. Davis,
I am extremely pleased to write this letter about John Mayfield, who recently finished an internship with Special Olympics
Tennessee. John interned for Special Olympics Tennessee in the Development Department but was involved with all aspects of
our organization. As a member of the Special Olympics team, he was a dependable, passionate, motivated, focused and high-
performing intern. John consistently demonstrated responsibility and integrity by always contributing in team meetings, meeting
project deadlines and consistently submitting quality work.
John has numerous strengths and special skills that will enable him to succeed in the sports industry. One of John’s most
impressive attributes is his ability to successfully balance multiple demands and cope with stress that naturally presents itself
during multiple projects. I have seen John function extremely well under stressful situations while assisting and direction events
for Special Olympics. John was an integral member of our team and made a significant impact on our organization through his
support.
An additional strength is John’s ability to lead and communicate with others. Although John was only an intern with Special
Olympics for a semester, he went out of his way to interact with Special Olympics athletes, sponsors, fundraisers, event
participants, volunteers and board members. We were so impressed by his leadership that we gave him significant responsibility
during a new fundraising campaign called the Music City Corporate Challenge. John given the director role during this month
long fundraising campaign. John successfully marketed, promoted, and managed all aspects of the Corporate Challenge events
and exceeded our expectations by helping us raise over $30,000 for Special Olympics Tennessee.
On a more personal level, John is intelligent, grounded, genuine, mature, professional, and responsible. He has a warm, flexible
and dependable interpersonal style, which makes it easy for people to like him and to enjoy working with him. Overall, John
has portrayed the ability to effectively manage his time so he can maintain success in his field. John is one of the most dedicated
interns I have every worked with and it is clear that he is committed to pursuing a position in the sports industry. John was a
pleasure to work with and someone we will look to hire in the future if a position were to open.
Sincerely,
Adam Germek
