ABOUT US
Seshadripuram First Grade College (SFGC) was established in 1992
by Seshadripuram Educational Trust (SET), the pioneering educational
management. Founded in 1930, SET in course of its sustained growth across
eight decades, has burgeoned as the foremost educational organization in
Karnataka. SET has grown as a global conglomerate of premier educational
institutions and a symbol of emergent free India, catering to a total student
population of over 20,000. The Trust engages more than 900 employees
and provides education ranging from pre-school to post graduation and
research. The mission statement of SET affirms that “every individual from
each stratum of society deserves affordable, relevant and quality education”.
The Trust constantly strives to meet this social obligation by “inclusion and
expansion of newer streams in its institutions” and provision of world-class
infrastructure. The ultimate goal of the “Trust is to nurture knowledge that
will lead to happiness, peace, harmony and prosperity.”
S.F.G.C was established in 1992, with only one course (BA). The college
has grown phenomenally during the past two decades and now we offer
undergraduate courses in Commerce, Physical Science, Life Science and
Computer Science; and Postgraduate courses in Management (MBA) and
Commerce (M.Com.).
The establishment of S.F.G.C signalled a sea-change in the educational
scenario of Bengaluru and a boon, especially, to the aspirants from North
Bengaluru.
Professionally managed by the SET, and affiliated to Bengaluru City
University, the college is managed by a governing council of eminent
academicians and management experts who benchmark quality targets and
ensure that they are achieved by the college.

forms. I use the word ‘kala in it’s
widest sense. So planting a sapling
is a kala, so is donating your blood .

gives the first hand information to the readers about
the various activities happening in the College. I would
like to congratulate the editorial team for taking the
initiative in bringing the college magazine so attractive
and informative. Looking forward for more issues of
this magazine which showcases our Institution and
Students achievements to the society.
The last fifteen years spent at SFGC have been for me
fruitful. Looking back across this long spell of romance with
this college, the words of Kishore Kumar echo in my mind:
‘Chhookar mere manko kiya tune kya ishara’. There is an
ineffable‘something‘intheairofthiscampuswhichbindsone
to it. My mind goes back to that soggy day in the monsoon of
2006, when I first stepped into the campus. Fifteen years and
many milestones later, it is now time to count the blessings.
Also, to be a part of this adventure, to be a witness to an
era, is a pleasure and a privilege. To share fifteen of the thirty
years -- which is the age of this campus -- is unforgettable.
And, above all, it has been great fun. To assist in taking the
college through two NAAC inspections is no mean feat. Now
poised for the third, preparations are afoot, the process has
been set in motion, mobilizing resources, provisioning for
infrastructural, teaching and learning facilities , and updating
documents. There are many more research degree holders
now than ever before. The future holds infinite possibilities
for this college: alumni base is growing in number and stature,
bringing in inspiring success stories.New programmes
and courses are being introduced. Sky,indeed, is the limit!
I am immensely grateful to Sri N R Panditharadhya, President,
Nadoja Dr Wooday P.Krishna, Hon. General Secretary, Sri

individual study space or be it a separate room equipped with
computer / internet facility, for team working, discussion, or
practicing a presentation.
 SFGC library subscribes to 30 journals and 22 popular magazines.
 It has 34719 books and an internet lab with 10 systems.
 Open access system
 Library services are fully computerized with online public access
catalogue (OPAC)
 Collections and readers profiles are bar-coded.
 Reprographics facility is available in UG Library.
 Library & Information Center is open on all working days from
8:30 A.M. to 5 P.M.

DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE AND MANAGEMENT
The Department of Commerce and Management is the
largest Department in the college in terms of student and staff
strength. The avowed aim of this department is to “train and
develop young management professionals who can take on the
challenges of the corporate world”.
The course has a wide variety of subjects to bring you face-
to-face with trends in business and management. Commerce
graduates are sought after by business, trade and industry. If
you have a penchant for a higher qualification, there are many
postgraduate courses available.
DEEKSHA ACTIVITIES
DEEKSHA: SFGC’s Management Platform
Deeksha is a vehicle initiated by the Department of
Commerce and Management to enrich the commerce and
management students beyond classroom training. It provides
a wide platform for students to understand the nature of the
industry. All extra-curricular activities of the department are
conducted through Deeksha. The main objective of the forum is
to enrich the students with the management skills and to face
the competitive world with great zeal.

in SFGC has been structured to equip
students with modern business
knowledge, skills, and attitudes that

ETHICAL HACKING
Ethical hacking involves an authorized attempt to
gain unauthorized access to a computer system,
application, or data. Carrying out an ethical hack
involves duplicating strategies and actions of malicious
attackers.
Department of Computer Science had conducted 2
days National Workshop on 15th and 16th Feb 2021
on “Ethical Hacking” by AAKAAR IIT BOMBAY.

on 14th oct 2019 successfully. Themes of
the conference were Science & Technology,

impact factor 5.75. Chief guest for the event
was Dr.N. Chandrappa, Registrar(Evaluation)

ANDROID APP DEVELOPMENT
Since past decade mobile phone has become
a necessity of human being. For these phones
Android operating system has captured
Indian market up to a great extent. Taking
these market needs in mind department of
computer science decided to give training of
android application development to students.
2 days Workshop was arranged on Android
Application Development by the department
of Computer Science in association with
Robokart and IIT Bombay. Workshop was held
on 11thand 12th Oct 2017. It was delivered by
professional trainer Mr. Vineet Pawar. Around
71 students participated of the workshop.

The Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS)
has been working very closely on the United Nations
Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs). IIHS plans
to incubate the SDGs in a formal and regulated way
with sustainable outcomes in middle-higher schools
and junior-undergraduate colleges. The project
would involve both students and teachers. These
initial interactive sessions will eventually merge into
a Blended Learning format to reach out to a larger
young audience.

virgin materials. Students of Computer Science
Department participated actively in the
collection of E-waste in our institution.

ABOUT NSS
NSS is Gandhiji's scheme to channelize
the youth energy for constructive
action. National Service Scheme (NSS)
is a platform where students can
directly interact with society. SFGC
NSS facilitates a space for the student
to pursue real issues in our country.
Students should have some obligations
to the society or the nation to which
they belong. It is also a process of
learning when students visit a field
or serve personally. So, NSS is that
platform which facilitates opportunities
to do for society, and at the same
time they acquire diverse knowledge.
There is the great role of the youth,
particularly young-educated persons to
the society and nation-building. They
have huge potential and enthusiasm
to dedicate themselves to reform and
improvement. The real success of
learning is to apply gained knowledge,
and NSS-SFGC symbolizes the same.
SFGC-NSS contributes in diverse fields,
especially by its academic excellence.
Besides these, NSS-SFGC contributes
in the field of liftment of society.

Orientation Program for NSS Volunteers
Continuous orientation is the way to encourage the volunteers. Through these orientation
sessions they get an idea about NSS and its objectives.
STATE LEVEL REPUBLIC DAY CAMP
The event encourages youth to participate enthusiastically and get a chance to participate in the
Republic Day Parade at India Gate. The selection camp for REPUBLIC DAY parade 2019 was organized
in Vishveshwaraya Technological University, Belagavi. A total of 04 NSS volunteers were selected
from Bengaluru City University. Ms.Sanjana K.N Represented SFGC in State level RD Camp.

SFGC NSS volunteers actively participated in Rally For Cauvery Calling on 30/08/2020.
Observance of Swacctha Pakawara Programme
As a part of SwachhtaPakhwara program, “Clean Class Room Day” was observed in all the College.
Swacchta Hi Seva, Walk for Cleanliness
It was a Drive and a small contribution to our Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s movement of “SWACH
BHARAT ABHIYAN.” The NSS volunteers of SFGC came up in large numbers to support this campaign.

Plog Run Program (NO –PlASTic AWARNESS Rally)
On 2nd October, a first-of-its-kind national initiative called the India Plog Run 2019 was held,
aiming to combat the growing threat from plastic pollution by including the most powerful
stakeholders in environmental conservation: citizens.
Voting Enrollment Drive:
The VoterAwareness Drive‘MinchinaNondani’special voterenrollment Drivewas Inaugurated
by Mr. Raghu Murthy, Tahsildar Yelahanka. 100 NSS Volunteers and NCC Volunteers were
participated.
Environmental Awareness Rally:
Creating Environmental Awareness among the public plays a very important role in present
polluted environment, Hence our NSS volunteers created awareness about conserving energy
and water, recycling, activism.

On 27/08/2019 NSS-SFGC designed project for collecting clothes, Daily needs to supported to North
Karnataka flood victims. This project aims to distribute the collected clothes, to the needy North
Karnataka flood victims. The NSS Volunteers collected the cloths and other needy Items from students and
handed over to Benguluru City University Office. We received very amazing response from the Students.
gandhi Jayanti celebrations
On Occasion of 150th Gandhi Jayanti, NSS-SFGC and Gandhi Study Centre jointly organized one-day
workshop on “Gandhijiyavara Chinthanegala Prasthuti”, was held on 02/10/2019 in association with
Karnataka GandhiSmaraka Nidhi, Bangalore. The program was inaugurated by Dr. M.S. Murthy, Renown
Artist and Former President, Lalitha kala Academy, Bangalore. During the Inaugural address he spoke on
Gandhiji thoughts and belifs. who worked for Social Cause.

parade on 15th August
2019, at HOYSALA ground,
Yelahanka
on 12th APRIL 2019 CIVILDEFENCE WING - SFGC, took initiative to conduct awareness
programme on importance of voting. Our Civil Defence volunteers visited all the classes
with the placards. The objective of the programme was to create awareness among the
young generation (above 18) about the importance of casting their vote and selecting
the right, desired candidate to serve the society.
Our Civil defence candidates were selected as a special team for election duty during the LOK
SABHA elections from 09th to 15th April 2019
On 5th of October 2019 in association with NCC and NSS, Civil Defence Wing of Seshadripuram
First Grade College, participated in the road rally to create awareness on saving the planet
and saying no to pollution (air & noise pollution in particular) which is need of the hour today.

On 13th April Civil Defence wing of
Seshadripuram First Grade college
organised a workshop on “SCHEMES
AND FACILITIES OF CENTRAL
GOVERNMENT”.
Civil Defence Headquaters conducted Fire training camp from 26th JANUARY 2020 to
12th FEBRUARY 2020, for 18 days. Our Civil Defence Volunteers were part of the training
programme. During this programme they undertook workshop on First Aid, HoseDrill
handling demo, ladder drill, pump drill, post drill, handling fire-extinguisher tools, workshop
on CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscition). Our candidates also visited COLUMBIA ASIA
HOSPITAL, HEBBAL, BANGALORE as part of the workshop to learn first aid during heart
attack and precautions to be taken.
Covid-19, the pandemic is actively spreading everywhere. In this crucial situation,
our government has locked down the entire nation. As a result, the common people
aren’t able to obtain even the basic essentials and are suffering. Many organisations
and volunteers are serving day and night explicitly; even our Civil Defence volunteers
took initiatives in helping the needy. Around 30 Civil Defence volunteers participated
in distributing the food packets, basic essentials, feeding the Stray dogs etc. They were
being the bridge between the farmers and consumers, buying fruits and vegetables from
farmers and ensuring it reaches the consumers.

a road rally (Doddaballapur road) to spread

increasing need for better coaching and equipment.
We, in our sports centre, provide the athletes not only
equipments and facilities but also standards of conduct
such as being respectful to opponents and officials and
congratulating the winner when losing. Our sports
centre defines sport as an organized competitive and
skilful physical activity requiring commitment and fair
play. It is governed by a set of rules or customs.
In the new millennium new sports have been going
further from the physical aspect to the mental
or psychological aspect of competing which we
understand. Thus, we at our sports centre, provide our
students with excellent indoor sports facilities and also
we have sprawling playgrounds and courts for outdoor
games. We encourage our students We encourage our
students to participate in state / national level sports
events. Also, our sports centre aims at providing a
platform to each and every individual who is keen on
any type of physical or mind sports activity.

Language and Literature. It aids to the articulation of
English language through many literary genres like
fiction drama, poetry, folktale, and prose. All this genres
helps students to become innovative in their narrative,
description performance.
L S R W (listening, speaking, reading and writing) are the
four skills of learning English language, all the skill make
an individual to develop spoken language and effective
interpersonal communication. LSRW skills help the
students to face interviews.
Dept. of English conducts various competitions every
boost the student’s confidence lercl and to overcome
from stag fear year confidence and throw away the
stage fear in students Euphoria the english club
conducted spell bee, News paper reading, translation
in both (kannada and hindi) into English, quiz etc. We
have poets from all the streams who create their own
poems and all the faculty member will help them in

The department of Hindi of SFGC aims to provide
quality teaching in various aspects of Hindi literature
and language. It also envisages to carry out meaningful
and relevant research in Hindi literature ,languages,
folklore, drama, etc. The department is also planning
to start a certificate course in Official Hindi for the
students to develop their communication skills in
Hindi.The department of Hindi also encourages Hindi
students to learn Kannada language. We also have
Hindi club which is known as 'Pratibha Manch' under
this every year we conduct several competitions like
literary quiz, geet pratiyogita, Kavya paath, Hindi
antyakshari and creative writing. We also conduct
debate competition and essay competition for the
students. The dept observes 'Hindi Diwas' on 14th
September every year.

language Samskrtam.
“SamyakkrtamSamskrtam”means scientifically constructed
or created language is the Etymology for Samskrtam. Such
a great language isbeing studied and applied in our country
from time to time and in all the Eras (Yugas). Considering
the importance of this language, SFGC has taken lead to
introduce this language to the students. Many students are

Teachers day was celebrated on September 5th under the guidance of Staff Secretary Prof.
Renukamma .Student council members honoured the Principal and all the Teachers were
presented with a small gift. At the End there were games arranged for teachers where in there
was an active participation of all the Teachers. The function was well organised by the Student
Council and was a successful event.
The Alumnuis meet was organised by Student council on 12th October 2019.Alumnus were
invited to the program on this day. Elections was held for all the Alumnus. The Cheif guests
were the alumni’s of our very own College. Mohammad Farooq Khan, Lakshmeesha and
Vikesh.M were the Cheif guests. Presidential speech was given by the staff secretary Prof.
Renukamma J. There was an elections held for all the alumnus. This election. for Alumnis
resulted in the formation of new Executive Committee of Alumnus (Alumnis Association).
Vote of thanks was given by Prof.Manohar.With the help of Staff Secretary Prof.Renukamma J,
Student council members and Class representatives the event was successful.
Inaugration program of “Vismaya Prapancha” was organized by Student Council on March
5th 2020. Vismaya Prapancha is an exhibition of rare collections of Shri J.Dashrath Singh,
who has devoted his life to the collection of rare and antique pieces. The exhibition of these
antique gems was conducted in the college campus for 3 days I.e 05/03/202 to 08/03/2020.

addressed the students. All the dignitaries shared their views on the collection of antique
gems and importance of history in our day today life.
“NO VEHICLE DAY” was organised by Student Council on October 5th 2019 . The main agenda
of organising this event was to create awareness about the increasing pollution and fuel
consumption. No vehicles were entertained in the college premises on this day from the
students and The Staff members(teaching and non-teaching). A special guest was invited as
he spoke about the importance of nature and fuel consumption.There was a Rally organised
for Student council members, CR’s, NSS and Civil defence members along with that Teachers
and Eco- club members accompanied for the rally. This Rally’s Aim was to spread importance
about the Fuel that’s been used carelessly in the present generation. The rally was for one
hour. The event was well planned and it was a successful one
