INTRODUCTION
GAYATHRI CENTRAL SCHOOL’S OVERVIEW
Gayathri Central School is managed by Gayathri
Educational and Charitable Trust, which is a charitable
organisation registered under the Charitable Societies Registration
Act with Reg. No. 107/06.
The school provides opportunity for pupils to join the elite
group of technology led school in the Alappuzha District. The
school takes additional measures to make a child interested in the
various subjects, and thus leading him through the sagacious path of both scholastic and co -
scholastic curriculum. The school makes their kids smart and active, academically as well as
personally.
Gayathri Central School offers a challenging curriculum and an enriching learning
experience from Primary through High School. It equips children with the tools to master
rigorous academic challenges including mathematics, science, languages, literature and social
sciences, and the global focus helps them tackle broader challenges beyond the textbook.
They learn individual integrity as they develop the skills to deal with life experiences. The
system integrates an active sports schedule, community service and programs apart from
academics and other co - curricular activities - for study and for fun.
The school adopts the most modern methods of teaching and lay equal emphasis on
the values and traditions. The teachers have been
trained to act as facilitators to help young people
develop responsibility, self confidence, self
discipline and a commitment to themselves, their
family and to their community.
The major facilities being offered by the
school include well equipped labs for Physics,
Chemistry, Biology, Computer, Mathematics, Home
Science, Language, excellent library and reading
room, state of the art audio visual room, special
intensive coaching for exceptional learners, special
coaching for students with learning disabilities, counseling facilities by experienced
counselors, training and career guidance.

HISTORY
It had a humble beginning in November 2000 with nine playschool students and only
one teacher.
Founder Chairman, Mr. C. Shaji
Under the stewardship of the Founder Chairman Mr. C. Shaji, Gayathri Vidyamandir
with nine tiny tots began to toddle down to the vast expanse of the world of letters in a one-
roomed building surrounded by a small but nice children’s park. When these nine tiny tots
were about to leave Gayathri Vidyamandir’s precincts after completing their UKG stream,
the school management was solicited and encouraged to start the next higher class, i.e., Std I
by the grateful parents and caring well – wishers. Thus Gayathri Central School was launched
in 2006 after the formation of Gayathri Educational and Charitable Trust with Register No.
107/2006. It was in pursuit of his vision for a school that would mean a significant difference
to the future of the world. Gayathri Central School has grown to become a model educational
institute, embracing traditional values even as the school imparts an international educational
curriculum.

MISSION AND VISION
Broader development of the complete personality of the student for which a student
should be equipped with some blessings such as strong and secular ethics, a sense of
integrity, uncompromising honesty, strong and sure understanding of the motherland’s rich
culture and a questioning mind that makes him / her competent enough to face the myriad
challenges of the society.
Gayathri Central School aims at creating intellectually mature, morally upright,
socially committed and spiritually inspired young men and women with a deep sense of
values of life and national integration who can play an effective role in the 21st Century in

Gayathri Central School’s aim is to mould an ideal society based on Indian culture

Gayathri Educational and Charitable Trust is not only to help pupils to achieve academic

The medium of instruction is English. However a three - language formula is adopted
in all classes, to prepare students to be functionally multilingual and informed with a world

Affiliations
Gayathri Central School is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education
(CBSE) New Delhi (C.B.S.E. Affiliation No: 930855). The syllabi at the school are as per the
CBSE. The text books are those prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research
and Training (N.C.E.R.T).
Admission
Admission is generally offered to anyone, without consideration of caste, creed,
religion or sex, as per rules and regulations of the school and as long as there are vacancies.
Arts & Entertainments
Treat, treat the senses. Gayathri Central School’s training sessions are often cheered
up by so many pleasant chapters - art, music, entertainment. Such activities are conceived in
perfect combination to supplement learning. The school identifies the importance of extra -
curricular activities and gives enough
facilities for all the students to perform.

Conveyance
The students can make use of the school buses for their conveyance. The route and
other details can be obtained from the school’s administrative office. Parents / guardians or

others are not permitted to use the school bus. Remittance of the conveyance fee should be an
annual process. School bus fare is being charged for three months even if the service is
availed only for a few days.
Curriculum
Gayathri Central School follows the curriculum prescribed by the Central Board of
Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi.
The school has classes from Lower Kindergarten (LKG) to the Tenth (Class X) level.
The school prepares students for the All India Secondary School (AISS) Examination (Class
X).
For Classes IX and X, Hindi is offered as an option to Malayalam. Value education is
imparted as part of the curriculum.
The Central Board of Secondary
Education is widely recognized for its
excellence. All Indian Universities accept
its results for admission to Pre – Degree /
Pre – University / Higher Secondary
Courses. Its product is a student who not
only has a fine store of knowledge in the
required subjects, but also has developed
the ability to reason clearly and
accurately.
The academic year starts in June and ends in March. The mid - summer vacation is for
a period of two months. Every step is taken and every effort is being made to develop the
spoken and written ability of the students on par with the international standard. Malayalam,
our mother tongue, as second language is taught with equal importance and much diligence.
However the national language and mother tongue are assigned a vital role in the curriculum,
in conformity with the three language formula of the national educational policy.
Music, dance, arts, health, physical education, information technology, moral and
spiritual education are incorporated as the integral part of school curriculum.

 Kindergarten
Lower K.G. and Upper K.G Classes are mainly play - oriented with fewer burdens on
the children. They will be free from homework so that day students get their quality time at
home with family. More emphasis is given to spoken English, reading work and the
fundamentals of arithmetic.
 Primary Section
The main emphasis in primary education is activity - oriented. Children are provided
with a variety of co - curricular and extra - curricular activities that would help them discover
their own creative talents. Computer, TV classes and outdoor trips play a good role in the
learning process of children in the Primary Section. Monthly test papers and terminal
examinations are conducted on a regular basis for assessing the step by step progress of
students. Focus is given to good conduct and character formation in pupils.
Emotional
Education is incomplete without the proper organisation of emotional intelligence of a
child. Various activities are conducted at Gayathri Central School to make a child
emotionally balanced. The training sessions are cheered up by various pleasant chapters like
art, music, entertainment etc., through which the students can improve their talents as well.
They are encouraged to help the poor, needy and the downtrodden. This transforms them to
be emotionally balanced individuals who can empathize, persevere, take thoughtful decisions
and solve problems effectively and lead a successful life.
Examinations and Promotions
The school conducts class tests, formative and summative assessments. Reports of
marks are given to parents. Promotions to the next higher class are based on the pupil’s total
performance as assessed by the periodical and summative assessments. Viva will be
conducted for students from class VI onwards. Grading is done according to the standard
norms.

A well laminated identity card is issued to all students and they should wear it on all
days.

Uniform
It is compulsory that every student wears school uniform and the students cannot wear
sandals or slippers of any form except on Wednesdays. Pupils should wear well pressed
uniforms. Full uniform is compulsory for all students; however, they can wear casuals on
their birthdays.

Club activities are an inseparable part of the school curriculum for sharpening the

Memberships to these clubs are based

students and their parents. For each club a President, Secretary and three executive
Committee members are selected from among the members. Each club gets a chance to come
out with their creative talents either individually or as a group once in a month, i.e., each
individual club gets a chance once in a month.

Computer Education
The school has two advanced computer lab functioning in collaboration with NIIT@
Guru, Bengalūru that designs and executes the computer curriculum. The computer lab has a
high speed broadband internet connection.
Counseling
Gayathri Central School’s distinctive educational program positions the students very
favorably in the applicant pool for college and university admissions. They are better
prepared and more confident than many of their college peers, more organized, more
disciplined, better able to write and express themselves orally, and better equipped with
research skills. With the guidance of the counseling staff, the students find the right courses

Future ReadySchool(Smart Class)
The school curriculum is also getting enriched with strong support from smart classes
executed and designed by Educomp Solutions Limited, Extramarks Education Private
Limited and Pearson Education Services. Smart class program is a world - class
comprehensive technology enabled teaching solution with world - class teaching resources to
teachers such as animation clips, videos and pictures etc drawn from the vast digital
repository from across the world. Teachers then use these resources right inside the
classrooms using a display device and a networked computer to teach their specific subjects
and topics.

the teacher connected to the Knowledge
Center .Teachers use the digital resources
while teaching the chosen topic inside the
classrooms enabling students to acquire a
faster and a better understanding of the
concepts taught.
A dedicated teacher resource
facility fully equipped with supporting
technology infrastructure has been
created for the teaching staff. The teachers use the facility to create their own specific
resource requirement plans and evaluate their teaching sessions. Teachers can then choose
from a basket of resources provided to them for a specific topic, subject or class. Teachers
also upload any presentation materials that they may choose to create for the classroom
sessions.
The fruits of the “Future Ready School” are highly beneficial to the entire students in
its entirety. Thus the institution has the rare opportunity to join the elite group of technology -

Job Satisfaction among Teachers.
Clarification of Concept:-
To find out how content a teacher is with his or her job, in other words whether or not
they like the job or individual aspects or facets of jobs, such as nature of work or supervision.
Researcher Design: -
The proposed study aims to analyze job satisfaction of teachers.
Period of the study: -
A project study that was undertaken at Gayathri Central School, Kayamkulam,
Alappuzha Dist., Kerala, entitled “Job Satisfaction among Teachers”, for the period of one
month.
Universe of the study: -
Teachers of Gayathri Central School will constitute a Universe for the present study.

Out of the total teachers of Gayathri Central School, 45 teachers were selected.
Source of data: -
The initial step of present study was aimed to collect and refer secondary information
related to the topic. Secondary data’s were collected from reference book, periodicals,
manuals, printed magazines, internet, discussion with workers and employees, academicians
etc. This helped in collecting authentic information about the problems faced by the
management in running the school and the grievances, if any, of the students and the staff. A
questionnaire was required to collect primary data responses.
Tools of data used
By reviewing the secondary data the researcher had prepared a draft of the
questionnaire. The data collected from different sources were processed through computers
after careful editing and coding. Tabulation was done with the help of computers and
presented in the form of tables based on variables.

I. Lack of time is the major constraint as the proposed study was limited to one month.
II. The researcher did not get any external financial help to conduct a detailed study.

The major findings of the study are mentioned below:-
A. It is a Saraswati temple for everyone connected to the school.
B. School timings are appropriate for teachers.
C. A well planned and systematic curriculum is being followed.
D. The school gives equal importance for extracurricular activities.
E. Feedbacks given by the management are extremely useful.
F. There are several opportunities for students to exhibit their talents.
G. Teachers are pleased to work in the school.
H. Maximum care is being given to students.
I. The school is backed by strong and professional administrators.
J. The school provides a positive environment for effective learning and teaching.
K. The premises are maintained neatly.
L. All the approaches are student oriented.
M. There is regular up gradation in the standard of the school.
N. Teachers are given a good salary.
O. The school management & teachers work as a team.
P. A good classroom environment is being provided using the most modern educational
technologies.

CONCLUSION
Besides several other factors the economic development of a country depends upon the
effective functioning of employees. In order to achieve this, the management and the state
should take necessary steps for the satisfaction of employees in their respective jobs.
a) A large majority of the teachers were satisfied with the amenities provided to them in
the school.
b) Teachers have rated the overall management of the school and facilities available
around or in the periphery of the school as good.
c) Teachers reported that their work in the school has enriched their life as far as the
physical, psychological, social and economic aspects are concerned.
d) The relations between management and teachers were reported to be good.
e) The school stands different in all aspects compared to other schools and it has a very
bright future.

SUGGESTIONS
a. Quick and prompt action should be taken for the areas found in teachers’
questionnaire which needs improvement.
b. I wish the school will go ahead in starting higher secondary section soon.
c. It would be rewarding if the faculty is motivated to get updated in their particular
subjects so that the results are aplenty.
d. There is less English communication among students as well as teachers.
Management should encourage the staff & students to converse in English when
inside the school campus.
e. In order to develop skills of students to gain employment / self employment,
vocational training in information technology etc. may be included.
