2. “I have found unique architecture, delicious
food, beautiful clothing, friendly people, and a
culture so vibrant that people need to
experience it first hand to understand its true
beauty” – Elise B. ILR18’
“I have been able to come to realizations
about my life and make decisions that I had
been pondering for months. They now seem so
simple and clear, maybe because I am so far
away from home that it is easy to take a couple
steps back, or maybe because this has been
such a humbling experience” – Alyssa, BSILR13’
“It was a really cross cultural experience.
We were able to learn from each other and
learn about each other’s personal lives and
professional experiences. I am even able to
maintain contact with them now. This really
was a life changing experience” -Tara GH’17
“Being in India really helped me understand
that there’s a lot of ways to see the world that
I hadn’t considered before. So always staying
open to constantly asking questions is one of

the most”-Abigail ILR’18
“It truly is a life changing experience and if
you’re willing and ready to learn more about
yourself and learn more about the world, I

– Lawrence Cole WG 15’
All in all, the Wharton India GIP

5. The Fair Trade India Experience has
proven to me first-hand, that when faced
with a such a large problem as poverty, the
actions of small groups people who care and
are willing to act can have an immense
impact in creating change for the better.-
Oscar Bitton, 22nd January 2017
I began to understand that I was talking
to someone who was at exactly the same
point in his life as I am in mine, yet our
lives couldn’t be further apart. I hate that, I
hate how completely and utterly unfair that
is. – Shani Cain, 11th December 2015
I do not understand how we continue to
enable these inequalities. We continue to
turn a blind eye and allow the developing
world, like India, to accept that this is
simply a fact of life. We are all human. We
can all choose to be better, to do better. -
Shani Cain, 11th December 2015

7. As this was not my first trip to
India, I assumed that I knew what to
expect. Alas, little did I know that
the study trip will expose me to a
different India: the India tourists
seldom get to see.
 How two different worlds could
co-exist within the same country
can only be unraveled by a study trip
such as this. And, even then, we
would have barely scratched the
surface but, at least, it is a start.
There are still so many more
things that I learnt from this study
trip; be it in terms of knowledge
about India or about my classmates
or even about myself.
