Stya & Svrán Group achieved its much-awaited milestone of 50 years on
Dec 4, 2017.
The Apeejay Stya & Svrán Group was
established by Dr. Stya Paul, an eminent
industrialist, educationist and freedom
fighter. AES has built a rich heritage of over
five decades in the field of quality education
through a family of 24 not-for-profit
institutions, in various states of the country.
All Apeejay Stya educational institutions have
been instrumental in carrying forward the
shared vision of man-making and nation-
building education of global standards of its
Founder Chairman, Dr. StyaPaul.
Dr. Stya Paul’s legacy of excellence is being
carried forward by his daughter, Mrs.
Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman of the Apeejay
Education Society. Today, the Apeejay family
comprises about 40,000 students, 60,000
alumni, over 2500 faculty, and infrastructure
that includes over 4,000 computers in well-
equipped laboratories that provide education
from pre-nursery to doctoral level.

Dr. Stya Paul, eminent industrialist, educationist,
philanthropist and freedom fighter provided the foundation
and inspiration for the emergence of the Apeejay Stya
Group and the Apeejay Education Society as trusted
symbols of quality and excellence in the country’s industrial
and educational landscape.
A pioneering entrepreneur with a far-sighted vision of the
future, Dr. Stya Paul was instrumental in the rise of the
Apeejay Group as one of the biggest industrial houses of
independent India and was a leading architect of the
country’s emergence as a self-reliant industrial superpower.
As Chairman Emeritus, he guided the Apeejay Stya Group,
a privately and closely-held leading Indian Industrial and
Investment House, to become one of the major corporate
houses of the country, with several alliances, collaborations
and significant presence in Europe, Middle East and East
Asia.
Dr. Stya Paul, fondly called Sethji, recognised the great role
that industry could play in providing quality education.
Towards this objective, he decided to set up not-for-profit
educational institutions across the country where scientific
and career-building knowledge could be provided along
with inculcation of values and an appreciation of Indian
culture, arts and heritage. Starting with a small school in
Jalandhar in 1968, all the schools and institutions of higher
learning established by him over five decades under the
aegis of the Apeejay Education Society have flowered to
become symbols of excellence in their various disciplines,
moulding the lives and careers of future generations of
the country.
The year 2010 also saw the realization of Dr. Stya Paul’s
lifetime dream of setting up the Apeejay Stya University.
His vision of excellence for the University is being carried
forward by his daughter and only child, Mrs. Sushma Paul
Berlia, the Co-Founder and Chancellor of the Apeejay
Stya University, Chairman, Apeejay Education Society and
President, Apeejay Stya & SvranGroup.
During his long and illustrious career, Dr. Stya Paul was
actively associated with several social, cultural and
professional bodies and held responsible positions
reflecting his versatility, leadership and standing in industry
and social circles. His philanthropy and generosity knew no
bounds. Over the years, numerous awards and accolades
were bestowed upon him, in a life richly lived and full of
sharing & caring.
A true Karmayogi, Dr. Stya Paul retained his zeal for hard
work even in his advanced age and remained keenly
involved in the management of the Apeejay institutions well
into his nineties. Active till the very end, he departed from
this world peacefully on June 7, 2010 while preparing to
leave for office. But his life’s work and achievements, and
the lasting legacy of excellence that he has left behind, will
continue to inspire & guide us in all our endeavours.

Chairman’s Message
The world has changed immensely since the inception of
the Apeejay Education Society (AES), more than five
decades ago, but our commitment to excellence has only
grown stronger. Over the years, AEShas established several
centres of educational excellence across the country.
Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai, International Wing, is its
newest addition to this commitment of man-making and
nation-building.
The advent of technology and communication has
heralded a paradigm shift in the educational landscape.
Today, learning is not confined to the classrooms,
teachers are available everywhere and networks are the
new classrooms. Focus of education is shifting from mere
delivery of content to acquiring skills necessary to thrive
in the future. This means that a progressive and holistic
education with international dimension is more important
than ever. We intend to achieve this by encouraging
intellectual curiosity, fostering creativity, innovation and by
inspiring students to pursue excellence in ways that define
a futuristic education. The IB and CAIE trained teachers at
the International Wing of Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai are
well-equipped to provide such education and care.
The Primary Years Programme at the International Wing
of Apeejay School, offers a curriculum enriched by the
best of international curricula from the world over –
Scottish, Irish, IB, Finland and Singapore, to name a few.
Modern innovative teaching methodologies like inquiry-
based learning, Harkness Method and Socratic Seminar
encourage students to develop critical thinking skills and
out-of-the-box solutions. In the senior years, students
will have a choice of International Baccalaureate Diploma
Programme, IGCSE or CBSE, giving the students an option

Curriculum
The curriculum at Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai, International Wing focusses not only on
cognitive development but social, emotional and physical well-being as well. Broad and
balanced in its approach, it focusses on experiential faculties along with academic rigour.
Designed to enhance conceptual thinking, it motivates students to make connections and
discover interrelatedness between different subject areas. It aims for global engagement

Primary YearsProgramme
Primary Years’ Programme at Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai, International Wing, comprises
the essential elements of knowledge, conceptual understandings, skills, attitudes and actions
that encourage international mindedness and global citizenship. These elements feature
collaboratively planned units of inquiry which follow six trans-disciplinary themes. These
themes allow ‘traditional’ subjects to be explored through interconnected personal, local and
global perspectives.
Core subject areas including Languages, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and Art are
integrated around these themes which make the programme trans-disciplinary in nature,
enabling the learners to explore different concepts across various subjects. The pedagogical
approach is focused on the principles of constructivism, encouraging learners to construct
their own meaning and take the responsibility of their learning process. A variety of assessment
techniques such as group projects, presentations, quizzes, blogs, etc. are used to measure
progress and attainment of students. Together, teachers and staff create a challenging
curriculum based on research exceeding international standards.

Middle YearsProgramme
Middle Years Programme, at Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai, International Wing, is a natural
progression from the Primary Years Programme and excellent preparation for the IBDP in
grades XI and XII (to be offered). The Middle Years Programme spans across grades VI - X,
a crucial time when young ones are undergoing rapid physical, emotional and intellectual
development.
The curriculum is designed to meet the needs of this particular developmental stage.
Students will gain knowledge and skills with rigor in a stimulating environment that
promotes inquiry and encourages development of conceptual ideas and creative thinking.

Cambridge IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary
Education Programme) Grades IX - X*
IGCSE is the world’s most popular international curriculum for 14-16 year olds, leading to globally recognised and valued qualifications. They offer a
gateway to higher education or professional studies in the home country or overseas. IGCSE can help you to:
• Get a place in a college or university at home or abroad
• Find better career opportunities
• Pass the language tests for emigrating or studying in another country
• Develop skills that help you lead a more fruitful and successful life
The IGCSE consists of a two-year syllabus, culminating in a public exam/board exam at the end of Year 10. Students are expected to take seven to
nine subjects. A wide range of subjects offer students a holistic education in addition to keeping future career choices open which are made bearing in
mind the breadth of disciplines, possible career choices, aptitude and enjoyment. In addition, they provide excellent preparation for the International
Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) as well as other progression routes. The courses are developed in line with the changing needs, and are
regularly updated & extended. IGCSE teachers can draw on excellent resources, training and advice from subject experts.There are over 70 subjects

IBDP (International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme)
Grades XI - XII*
During their final two years of senior secondary school, students will study the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP). The IB Diploma
Programme is an academically challenging and balanced programme of education that prepares students, aged 16 to 19, for
success at university and life beyond. The programme is taught over two years and has gained recognition & respect from the
world’s leading universities. Research reveals that universities in the UK & USA have a high regard for IB graduates, and the skills &
attitudes developed.
The IBDP curriculum is made up of six subject groups and the DP core, comprising theory of knowledge (TOK), creativity, activity,
service (CAS) and the extended essay. Through the DP core, students reflect on the nature of knowledge, complete independent
research and undertake a project that often involves community service.
Widely regarded as one of the best pre-university courses in the world, the IBDP aims to develop students with excellent breadth and
depth of knowledge. The inquiry-based pedagogy along with heavy focus on application, prepares students to flourish physically,
intellectually and emotionally.
The students will have many out-of-classroom activities and experiences, through Learning Enhancement Programme, such as
theatre, photography, film review, Indian & western music, robotics, coding and sports like Golf, football, cricket, tennis, basketball
and taekwondo, to name a few.
Community service in an integral part of the curriculum. We believe that inculcating human values is essential for building ethically

With the technology revolution showing no signs of slowing down, the teacher’s role and the
nature of the classroom is changing. This advancement is redefining the role of both teachers

The Apeejay Stya & Svrán Group was established by Dr. Stya Paul, an eminent industrialist, educationist and freedom fighter. AES has built a rich heritage of over five decades in the field of quality education through a family of 24 not-for-profit institutions, in various states of the country.   • 8. 8 Dr. Stya Paul, eminent industrialist, educationist, philanthropist and freedom fighter provided the foundation and inspiration for the emergence of the Apeejay Stya Group and the Apeejay Education Society as trusted symbols of quality and excellence in the country’s industrial and educational landscape. A pioneering entrepreneur with a far-sighted vision of the future, Dr. Stya Paul was instrumental in the rise of the Apeejay Group as one of the biggest industrial houses of independent India and was a leading architect of the country’s emergence as a self-reliant industrial superpower. As Chairman Emeritus, he guided the Apeejay Stya Group, a privately and closely-held leading Indian Industrial and Investment House, to become one of the major corporate houses of the country, with several alliances, collaborations and significant presence in Europe, Middle East and East Asia. Dr. Stya Paul, fondly called Sethji, recognised the great role that industry could play in providing quality education. Towards this objective, he decided to set up not-for-profit educational institutions across the country where scientific and career-building knowledge could be provided along with inculcation of values and an appreciation of Indian culture, arts and heritage. Starting with a small school in Jalandhar in 1968, all the schools and institutions of higher learning established by him over five decades under the aegis of the Apeejay Education Society have flowered to become symbols of excellence in their various disciplines, moulding the lives and careers of future generations of the country. The year 2010 also saw the realization of Dr. Stya Paul’s lifetime dream of setting up the Apeejay Stya University. His vision of excellence for the University is being carried forward by his daughter and only child, Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, the Co-Founder and Chancellor of the Apeejay Stya University, Chairman, Apeejay Education Society and President, Apeejay Stya & SvranGroup. During his long and illustrious career, Dr. Stya Paul was actively associated with several social, cultural and professional bodies and held responsible positions reflecting his versatility, leadership and standing in industry and social circles. His philanthropy and generosity knew no bounds. Over the years, numerous awards and accolades were bestowed upon him, in a life richly lived and full of sharing & caring. A true Karmayogi, Dr. Stya Paul retained his zeal for hard work even in his advanced age and remained keenly involved in the management of the Apeejay institutions well into his nineties. Active till the very end, he departed from this world peacefully on June 7, 2010 while preparing to leave for office. Over the years, AEShas established several centres of educational excellence across the country. Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai, International Wing, is its newest addition to this commitment of man-making and nation-building. The advent of technology and communication has heralded a paradigm shift in the educational landscape. Today, learning is not confined to the classrooms, teachers are available everywhere and networks are the new classrooms. Focus of education is shifting from mere delivery of content to acquiring skills necessary to thrive in the future. This means that a progressive and holistic education with international dimension is more important than ever. We intend to achieve this by encouraging intellectual curiosity, fostering creativity, innovation and by inspiring students to pursue excellence in ways that define a futuristic education. The IB and CAIE trained teachers at the International Wing of Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai are well-equipped to provide such education and care. The Primary Years Programme at the International Wing of Apeejay School, offers a curriculum enriched by the best of international curricula from the world over – Scottish, Irish, IB, Finland and Singapore, to name a few.
