About
In Seshadripuram Institute of Commerce and Management, we oļ¬er versatile student
welfare programs to enhance the capabilities of the student for their future endurance. In
view of this, our college provides student development programs like Purvi (cultural and
performing arts), Ankura (Women Empowerment Cell), NSS and YRC (National Service
Scheme and Youth Red Cross ) Eco-Mitra (Nature club ) Parinathi (Gandhi and
Vivekananda Study Centre) and Ambedkar study centre (Minority and Equal opportunity

Principal's Message
Education plays an important role in enabling the
student to face a real life situation with adequate
knowledge. We are making the best effort to give quality
education along with other curricular activities to develop
and encourage the skills inherited in students and also in
haul the service nature to the society. Samvardhana
provides as deftly accessible medium and platform for
publicizing news and enlighten on Cultural activities, NSS
and YRC, Nature club and other student welfare
programs, which also highlights our student's potential
participation in events and to enclave the cult of societal
needs.
I congratulate the Editors and the supportive crew
for their efforts in building edition 6 of Community
Engagement Newsletter SAMVARDHANA and my support
will always be with the team in all the needs and
requirements of the students welfare.

Editorial's Speak:
To start, we are grateful for the opportunity to persist in
engaging a role where we can co-ordinate with different
student welfare programs. This Community Engagement
Newsletter edition 6 of SICM, Samvardhana is a milestone
that marks our growth, unfolds our imaginations, and
enhances our thoughts and aspirations. It unleashes a wide
creativity. The piece of work of Samvardhana Creation was a
great challenge to us as editors; this task would not be
successful without the support and encouragement extended by
our beloved Principal Prof.Vidya Shivannavar, our sincere
heartfelt thanks for her encouragement. And we also extend
our sincere gratitude to all the forum Convenors and Co-
convenors for extending their support in completion of

Exploring Mystic Melodies: Lord Basavanna's
Spiritual Journey in Vachana Sahitya
On 4th July 2023 the Basava Study Centre in
collaboration with the Department of English,
organized a captivating program titled "Mystic
Melodies Lord Basavanna's Spiritual Odyssey
Echoed in Vachana Sahitya". The event featured
Dr. C K Jagadish, a distinguished scholar from
GFGC, Chikkaballapur, as the resource person.
Dr. C K Jagadish shed light on Lord Basavanna, the
visionary behind the Lingayat Veershaivism movement and spoke about The independent and
egalitarian movement drew inspiration from the rich heritage of Bhakti traditions in South India.
Notably, the Veerashaivam revolution was both a social and spiritual awakening, challenging
prevailing societal norms of gender and caste discrimination.

Youth Red Cross
The voluntary blood donation festival
commenced with an inaugural program with
esteemed guests such as Sri Vishweshwara
Anantha Hegde Kageri, Sri N R Pandith Aradhya,
and Guests of Honor Nadoja Dr. Wooday P Krishna and Sri Raju Chandrashekar. The event
witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, the public, institution, faculties, and dedicated
volunteers, all coming forward to donate blood and contribute to the cause. The blood donation
camp achieved remarkable success, with a total of 160 generous donors making it a memorable and
impactful event.

Awareness programme on Organ Donation
On 22nd May, the Youth Red Cross organized
an Organ Donation Awareness talk in the college.
The event commenced with the dignitaries lighting
the lamp and an inaugural song. Chief Guest M.K.
Krishna delivered a compelling talk on organ
donation, accompanied by his colleagues, Mr.
Shankar Narayan, D.R. Mr. Bhoopendran
Varadarajan, and Mrs. Sujatha Bhoopendran, who
served as inspiring examples for their donation
records and societal contributions. M.K. Krishna
explained the various ways of organ donation
using the ABCD and H framework: A for donation of organs while alive, B for Blood donation, C for
Cornea donation, D for donation of organs after death, and H for Hair donation. The event
concluded with all students and dignitaries pledging to actively participate in future organ donation
camps.

āDAAN UTSAVā ā Joy of Giving on account of
'World Environment Day'
The event saw active participation from both students and staļ¬, who generously contributed in kind.
They donated items such as steel lunch plates, groceries (including rice, dal, cooking oil, and wheat
ļour), and various provisions. The students and coordinators played a signiļcant role in collecting
this substantial contribution in kind. On the 8th of July 2023, they oļ¬cially handed over the donated
items to Mrs. Deepa C, the Home Management Coordinator of NEED BASE INDIA. In recognition
of their eļ¬orts, they received a participation and appreciation letter from NEED BASE INDIA, based
in Bengaluru.

Cross Wing and Ankura- the Women Empowerment forum of Seshadripuram Institute of

Tree Plantation & Swachhata Program
On June 19th and 20th,
2023, the Youth Red Cross
organized a 'Tree Plantation &
Swachhata Program' in the
adopted village of Hadonahalli.
During this event, 200 plants
w e r e p l a n t e d n e a r t h e
graveyard, and the team also
cleaned schools and main
roads to enhance public spaces
and other areas.
World Red Cross Day
On May 8, 2023, the National Service
Scheme wing and the Indian Red Cross Society
organized "WORLD RED CROSS DAY." This
event aimed to promote blood donation and
raise awareness about it. It encouraged
medically ļt individuals who are 18 years old or
older to donate blood and played a signiļcant
role in motivating youth to participate in this
noble cause.
ANKURA- Women Empowerment Forum
Intercollegiate Events on account of
'World No Tobacco Day' -2023
Karnataka Cancer Society, Bengaluru in association
with Seshadripuram Evening College, Bengaluru had
organized intercollegiate competitions on account of
'World No Tobacco Day-2023' from 25th May to 31st
May 2023 at Seshadripuram College. Our students
secured third place in Rangoli competition.

On the 19th of June 2023, ANKURA -
T h e Wo m e n E m p o w e r m e n t F o r u m
organized a webinar on "Menstrual Health
and Hygiene" in collaboration with the
Global hunt Foundation. The resource
person, Mrs. Nitya Chaudhar y, CSR
Executive at Unicharm India, addressed the
gathering and provided a comprehensive
explanation of scientiļc terms related to
menstrual health and hygiene through a
PowerPoint presentation.

NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME
From January 7th to 13th, 2023, the National Service Scheme conducted a Special Annual Camp
in the adopted village of HadonahallI, located in Doddaballapura Taluk, Bengaluru North District. A
total of 57 NSS Volunteers actively participated in the camp.

Awareness Talk on No Tobacco Day
On May 31st, the NSS wing organized an
Awareness Talk on No Tobacco Day. The talk
focused on the risks associated with the
consumption of tobacco and its products,
emphasizing the detrimental efects on families,
society, and the environment. Tobacco use is
identiļed as a leading cause of various types of
cancers, such as those afecting the lungs,
bladder, kidneys, and more.
Desi Games
From May 17, 2023, to May 19, 2023,
Yuvaka Sangha organized DESI GAMES at the
Dr. Annie Besant Scouts and Guides Camping
Center in Doddaballapur. Volunteers were
grouped and engaged in various games,
including Hagga Jaggata, kabaddi, kho kho,
Chowka bara, Pagade, and more.
Huthathma Mailar Mahadeva Birth Anniversary
SICM took part in the celebration of
Huthathma Mailar Mahadeva Birth Anniversary,
which was organized by Karnataka Gandhi
Smaraka Nidhi and Huthathma Milar Mahadeva
Rastriya Smaraka Trust on June 8, 2023.
H u t h a t h m a M a i l a r M a h a d e v a , t h e s o l e
representative from the then Mysore state,
participated in the Dandi March and walked
alongside Mahatma Gandhi at the young age of
18.
In commemoration of World Environment
Day, the National Service Scheme organized an
initiative titled "Quenching of Bird Thirst by
Installing Mud Pots" on June 5, 2023, within the
college premises. This small yet impactful
gesture aimed to raise awareness about the
detrimental eļ¬ects of plastic. Volunteers
addressed the water needs of birds on the
college campus by providing water resources in
mud pots.

Voter Awareness Walkathon
The "VOTER AWARENESS WALKATHON"
was organized by the Karnataka General
Election, in collaboration with the Election
Commission, Youth Empowerment and Sports
Department and Electoral Literacy Club. The
walkathon took place from Vidhan Soudha to
Kanteerava Stadium on April 29, 2023. The
objective was to raise awareness about voting,
sensitize voters and candidates, and involved
volunteers from various colleges.
Seed Balling and Agriculture affecting
from Chemicals and Climate
On June 19, 2023, Eco-Mitra, in collaboration
with IQAC, organized a program on the impact of
chemicals and climate change in Tondahalli,
Mulbagilu. Students and teachers acti vel y
participated, gaining enriching knowledge and
awareness about seed balling. Prabhakar Farmer
and Phaneesh, a Bio-char analyst, facilitated the
event.

celebration at Ramakrishna Math on 12th Jan, 2023.

A special talk on Vikasana -
Personality development program
On 13 January 2023, a special talk program
was organized for students. The speaker was Dr.
Ganapathi Hegade who enlightened the young
minds with Vivekananda's successful thoughts.

On 20 January 2023, a quiz competition was organised to
examine the knowledge about Swami Vivekananda and impart
knowledge about the unknown facts about Swami Vivekananda
Quiz Competition 2022-23
National Seminar at Basavangudi
On May 13th, our students took part in a
national seminar organized by Ramakrishna Mutt to
commemorate the 125th Anni versar y of
Ramakrishna Mission. The seminar focused on the
"Role of Ramakrishna Mission Matha in the Digital
World." Swami Nikhileshwaranandaji addressed
the Relevance of Ramakrishna Mutt in the present
context, followed by insights from Swami
Paramashivanandaji.
Treasure Hunt
On 31st May 2023, Vivekananda study centre
conducted Treasure Hunt competition in the college to
learn about Swami Vivekananda's life. There were 15
teams participated with 5 members in each team
students actively participated.
AMBEDKAR STUDY CENTRE
Constitution Day, also known as "National
Law Day," is observed in India on November 26
each year, commemorating the adoption of the
Constitution on this day in 1949. The
Constitution came into eļ¬ect on January 26,
1950. Dr. Anupama, the Speaker, emphasized
the signiļcance of the Constitution, its
impor tance, and highlighted Dr. B. R.
Ambedkar's eļ¬orts in framing it.

Inter-Collegiate Speech Competition and Special
lecture on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar to Youth
On June 21, 2023, the Budda Basava Gandi
Samskruthika Trust, in collaboration with
Seshadripuram Institute of Commerce and
Management, organized a workshop at the
college auditorium. Fourteen students from
various colleges participated with the objective
of raising awareness about Ambedkar's
thoughts. Dr. Gangadhara B, Director of Dr.
Babu Jagjivan Ram Study and Research Centre
and the Kannada department at Bangalore
University was the chief guest for the program.

Purvi
On 16 January 2023 , Purvi conducted
P h o t o g r a p h y E x h i b i t i o n t o e n co u r a g e
photography skills and exhibit the same through
print displaying at the college campus.

Self-Governance Day - 2023
On 26 May 2023 PURVI, as every year organized the most
appreciated and meaningful program on 'Self Governance Day'
with a concept of role reversal for a day between the students and
the entire staļ¬ of the college.
Students taking over the roles and responsibilities of all the
staļ¬ members right from the principal to the security guard of the
college for a day are the highlights of the program. The event holds
a great responsibility of churning out the ability in each student to
take responsibilities given. Under the leadership of Prof Vidya
Shivannavar the principal of the college along with her entire staļ¬
member were successful in handing over their roles in college to
students playing their roles respectively and themselves enjoying
their roles as students.

On 2rd June 2023 Inter-Class Solo
and Group Singing competition was
organized. The judges for the Group
Singing event were Srinidhi Shastry,
Saregamapa Season-17 winner.

On 3rd June 2023, Solo, Group Dance
and Fashion Show Inter-Class Competition
were organised. The judge for the event was
Harshitha, our alumni.
Ethnic Day Celebrations
On 03 June 2023, the students as well as the
teachers actively participated in the event by dressing
up in Ethnic wears and showcasing diļ¬erent cultures
followed across India. During the event, the campus
echoed the true essence of old customs and traditions
and also the creativity of the students.
Samsrushti'23
On 24th June 2023, Seshadripuram Institute of
Commerce and Management organised Inter
Collegiate Fest Samsrushti'23. The Fest hosted
various competitions from the ļelds of Cultural,
Management and Languages departments.
The Fest was inaugurated by Chief Guest
Shashikala Sunil, the popular Kannada Singer along
with Prof. GK Manjunath Principal, SCPUC who
was the guest of honour for the day. The dignitaries
addressed students and advised students to
balance between education and extra-curricular
activities as well as to uphold our culture and
ethnicity and Mr. Shashank M Gopal made the
presidential remarks. Principal Prof. Vidya
Shivannavar graced the occasion.
Voting Awareness Cycle Expedition from Vidhana Soudha to Town Hallā
The "Voting Awareness Cycle Expedition from
Vidhana Soudha to Town Hall" took place on April
23, 2023. The event aimed to raise awareness about
the signiļcance of the three-tier local electoral
system and sensitized voters regarding the
importance of active participation in the electoral
process. The goal is to ensure a responsive, accountable,
and democratically elected government.
