2. The Importance of PDHPE
PDHPE is one of six key learning areas in the NSW
K-6 Syllabus. The aim of the PDHPE is to help
students develop the skills and knowledge they need
to lead healthy, active and fulfilling lives.
(NSW Board of Studies, 2006)
• Through PDHPE students are taught how to
maintain healthy lifestyles and positive relationships.
It promotes an appreciation and valuing of self and
others.
3. PDHPE allows Students to be:
• Involved in physical sports beneficial for health
• Educated about the importance of personal health
• Aware of the effects of engaging in unhealthy eating
and lifestyle
• Identify the difference between healthy and
unhealthy behaviours
