Student & Programme Representative, University of Derby Buxton
- Excellent knowledge and use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point to develop reports,
briefs and presentations.
- Kept up-to-date with the latest and upcoming trends in the tourism industry, such as social
media platforms and the Internet.
- Collaborated with fellow students to produce group- based assignments, such as identifying,
monitoring and implementing recommendations for the Derwent Valley Mills World
Heritage Site to increase visitor numbers.
- Consulted with students and raised any issues, positive or negative feedback from the

- Researched into Group Travel activity offered by other DMO’s and tour operators and
reported findings to VPDD, for example VPDD are doing well in comparison to other DMO’s,
but there are gaps such as accessibility to group travel information on VPDD’s website and
social media channels.
- Set up spreadsheets and documents for assignments such as finding events in 2015 to be
included in the latest Visitor Guide.
- Attended major business events such as the VPDD annual conference, local business
conferences and leaflet swaps.
- Updated VPDD’s accommodation in the Peak District & Derbyshire Pinterest board, as well
as monitored the organisations other social media channels.

- Collaborated with fellow students to develop an educational package aimed at Colleges,
Schools and Universities which offer Business and Travel & Tourism courses for Chatsworth.
- Collaborated with local schools and colleges to gain feedback and any recommendations to
improve the product to ensure it met consumer needs.
- Researched the curriculum of Business and Travel and Tourism studies to find key themes to
be included in the product such as customer service.
