FINANCIAL INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE
Old Mutual Global Investors June 2015 – September 2015
Rotated around three departments: Spent one week in each of Alternatives and Operations, and then did seven weeks in Strategy. Partook in organising the interns’ annual charity event.
Alternatives: Given the task of preparing as if I was to give a client presentation on the main Alternatives products. To see this in practice, I got to sit in on a client meeting at Coutts. Through this, I
gained a greater understanding into alternatives and what their place is in clients’ portfolios.
Operations: Posted the Multi-Asset account flows in the morning and did part of the reporting cash flows for company’s funds in the afternoon. Got a better understanding of what front office and
back office do.
Strategy: Majority of the summer. Three main projects: investigating and helping compile a report on a competitor company, verifying data and helping calculate most recent fee margin earnings,
and learned how to use Simfund to start creating a company user guide and find data for reports.
Charity: Helping organise annual charity event, raising approximately £14,500 for Leap Confronting Conflict. Responsible for organising donations and projects, marketing and decorations.
KEY SKILLS
Communication: partaken in debating societies, public speaking workshops and competitions, worked with English Pen for a school year including representing them at an Amnesty
International Conference as a speaker.
Computing skills: developed knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Publisher and Project), currently learning VBA and Matlab as part of my course,
learning C# via Microsoft Virtual Academy.
Languages: fluent in Russian, having undertaken it at A-level.
