a) In what way did Nazism affect the lives
of the German people? Explain your
answer. [4]
In a positive way. Because the German people
were united. The country’s economy was
revived (recovered). Nazi pledged to get more
living space for the German people, called
Lebensraum.
b) Why was the Nazi party formed?
Explain your answer. [3]
The Nazi party was formed to rebuild
Germany into a powerful nation. To get
back the land which was lost during the
Treaty of Versailles. To unite Germany
speaking people.
c) How important was Nazism for
the development of Germany?
Explain your answer. [3]
It was important. Because Nazism created
more employment for the German people
through military conscription (recruitment).
Germany gained more territories through
Nazism, which were taken away by the Treaty
of Versailles.
d) Name and explain two feature of
Fascism. [4]
They believe in the use of force: meaning to
reach their goals, fascist used force.
Anti-Semitism: meaning they hated the Jews
people and blacks and they were determined to
get rid of them.
e) Mention any two aims of UNO. [2]
To maintain peace.
To promote relationship between member
states.
To promote international cooperation
between member nations.
f) Write a paragraph about the
origin of the cold war. [5]
The Cold war started right at the end of the WWII in
1945, after the Yalta conference of 4th February 1945,
where the allies and central power agreed to divide
Germany into four zones. The Cold war started due to
mistrust between the super power, USA and USSR. It
developed after the Yalta conference because their
agreement did not hold. USA feared that communism
will spread in eastern Europe, and so accused
USSR/Russia of using its military power to spread
communism in eastern Europe.
g) What did the people of Europe think
about the cold war? Explain your
answer. [5]
Different European People thought differently. Some people
thought good while other thought bad about the cold war.
Many countries thought well and happy about it because
they wanted Western democracy as advocated by the USA;
they all believed that communism was not good for the
economic development of countries after the WWII. Some
felt bad about it, because cold war led to civil wars in Korea
and Vietnam; many people and properties were destroyed.
They feared that it could develop into a physical war
between USA and Russia, and war can be bad.
 h) The following are three features (characteristics)
of Communism;
 A classless Society
 Communal/public ownership of economic
assists
 Political power held by a strong central
government
Which one of these features is most disliked by the
capitalist? Write down your choice and give three
reasons why you have chosen it. Also explain why
the other two contributed less than your choice.
[6]
Choice: Political power held by strong central government
Because the government controlled everything and they
made decisions for all the people.
The power was in the hand of a small elite party members
and they made decisions that affect all member of the society.
No opposition were allowed, all parties were regarded as
divisive and harmful.
I did not choose communal ownership of economic assist,
because it meant everybody owns means of production, and
not just the government.
I also did not choose classless society because everyone was
equal so nobody was poor or wealthy.
Thank you!
