 Difference between skills, techniques,
methods, approach and methodology:
 Skill: it is a part of efficient which
assigned small tasks.
 Techniques: it is combination of skills.
 Methods: it is combination of
techniques.
 Approach: it is combination of
methods.
 Methodology: it is combination of
approaches.
Sampling:
 “Sampling is a process of selecting a
subset of randomized number of
members of the population of a study
and collecting data about their
attributes” (Panneerselvam, 2004).
 “It is a process of selecting a number
of participants for a study in such a
way that they represent the larger
group from which they are selected”
Sampling frame:
 “The limited members of the
population selected are called as
sampling units” (Panneerselvam,2006)
 “Sampling units includes the
fundamental units or a group of such
units, which form the basis of
sampling process” (Pandya, 2010).
Sampling units:
 The complete list of all members/units of
the population from which each sampling unit
is selected is known as sampling frame”
(Panneerselvam, 2004).
 “ A list of containing all such sampling units
is known as sampling frame” (Pandya, 2010).
 “The list of sampling units is called as frame
or sampling frame” (incase of finite universe
only)
 It is different from mixed method
sampling
 The use of two or more methods of samp
ling; for example, in multistage sampling
, if samples are drawn at random at one
stage and drawn
by a systematic method at another
 Mixed sampling techniques involve two
techniques such as probability and non
probability sampling techniques.
