2. PERSONAL ENTREPRENEURIAL
COMPETENCIES (PECS)
It refers to the desired traits, which enable
an entrepreneur to do what is expected of
him/her and succeed in business. Successful
entrepreneurs have common characteristics,
which are divided into three clusters namely:
achievement, planning and power.

3. 1. ACHIEVEMENT CLUSTER – are accomplished
successfully by means of exertion, skill,
practice, or perseverance. It includes the
following:
• Persistence
• Opportunity Seeking
• Hard working
• Coping Uncertainty
• Coping with failure
• Risk-taking

4. 2. POWER CLUSTER – It is the ability to
influence the behaviour of people. It includes
the following:
• Self-confidence
• Demonstrating initiative
• Persuasion and Networking
• Responding to feedback
• Building on strengths

5. 3. PLANNING CLUSTER – It is the process of
thinking and organizing the activities required to
achieve a desired goal. It includes the following:
• Goal-oriented
• Information Seeking
• Systematic planning and monitoring
• Building for the future
• Setting own standards

6. IMPORTANCE OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP
TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY
 Entrepreneurs produce employment in the
community.
 Entrepreneurs generate new demand in the
market.
 It makes a generous commitment to the
raising and assortment of taxes.
 Entrepreneurs create new business
opportunities in the market.

7. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN
ENTREPRENEURSHIP
1. Business Consultant- with the expertise of the
entrepreneur he can be a very good source of advices to
other entrepreneurs and would be businessman.
2. Teacher- a graduate of an entrepreneurship can use his
knowledge in teaching.
3. Researcher- the entrepreneur can be employed as
researcher by an enterprise.
4. Salesperson - the entrepreneurship graduate can apply
as salesman
5. Business Reporter- the entrepreneur being expert in the
field, he can be employed as business reporter.
