4. Look up unfamiliar words alphabetically and decide which definition is appropriate, if there is
more than one meaning
Use the phonetic spelling to pronounce the word.
Learn the part of speech that matches the definition.

8. Bilingual Dictionary

often have tough covers to withstand
the perils of travelling.

A thesaurus is a book that
organizes words by categories
and concepts, so synonyms
and near-synonyms will be
grouped together.
11. Glossary
A glossary is a list of words or
phrases used in a particular field
with their definitions. Glossaries
are often found at the back of a
specialist or academic book as an
appendix to the text.
