“Oh GOSH! Reflecting on Hackteria's Collaborative Practices in a Global Do-It...
6. Production Reflection (FMP) (1).pptx
1. Feedback
• Could you mention more technical processes such as
the tools you used In photoshop and why to create this
image. Was it easy or difficult to achieve and why?
• As you moved from your front cover to your double
page spread, your techniques and style changed more
to suit and follow real magazine conventions, explain
how ongoing research and development of practice,
problem solving, and reflection helped achieve this.
• Your reflection still needs to follow the Point, Example,
Explain (why/how) structure we discussed. Manke sure
you do this for each part.
4. Process
This is the working title of the ‘Front Cover’ of my
magazine.
I have been experimenting with the help of the
Photoshop software with different types of colours
for the text and the background of my product,
following my planning and research processes
together with the results gained from 'Survey
Monkey'. I listened to the feedback from my
audience and took the appropriate steps.
My Masthead is unique and fresh, and is completely
different to those of my competitors, and this is what
the marketplace needs. This was easy to produce
on Photoshop from the colour bucket option.
Proposal
On my front cover there will be
taglines and coverlines which will
inform the reader to what is included
within the magazine.
5. Process
I have used Photoshop software to create bold
images as a coverline for the winning product for
my magazine, as it will encourage the reader to
delve further into my magazine, to find out how
they can win this product. This software makes it
easy to produce high quality images and designs.
My competitors do not offer the opportunity for one
lucky reader to win an up to date and newly
released DVD as a prize, and by me doing this I am
insightful into what will tempt readers to read my
product. I have chosen a ‘DVD’ as my winning
product to keep the theme for my Super-Hero
Magazine for the ‘Front Cover’ of my product.
Proposal
I have made the font bold and the colours bright for the price tag using Photoshop fonts, shapes and
colours tool, so it highlights my winning product visually on the front cover, therefore drawing
attention to it. The process quick and simple to create.
6. Process
My ‘Film Magazine’ is based on superheroes.
On the front cover of my product, I have used
Photoshop software to import images and combine
them together, to create a variety of actors who will
draw the readers eye before they have had time to
read any coverlines, taglines, as these images of the
iconic artists will fit the genre of my magazine.
The actors and images will never cover my Masthead
such as other Film Magazines portray. I enabled to
change the colour and exposure of the background
using the gradient tool on Photoshop, so that I could
get the result I required.
Proposal
7. Process
I have added these coverlines for my magazine to
inform the reader what is in my product.
These will be upcoming movies and series to be
released.
I used Photoshop software to create the desired
sparkled background colour and exposure using
the gradient tool, and also used this software for
the fonts and the palette in the colour bucket
option, for the varied and interesting colours that
I used.
These make my coverlines really stand out to the
readers of my magazine.
Once the reader has viewed the front cover
image, they will then scan the rest of the
magazine, and by using these colours and fonts, I
am attracting their interest and intrigue.
8. Process
This is the final design for the ‘Front Cover of my magazine.
I have reviewed my planning document, responses from
'Survey Monkey' and reviewed my schedule sheet and
research document for the final completion of my
product. Photoshop software enabled me to finalise my
product with the varied tools options before publication, so
that I could make any additions or corrections, as necessary
both easily and efficiently.
My Masthead is bold and clearly visible with the issue
number and price being bold and in a prominent position,
and this was easy to produce with Photoshop from the
colour palette in the colour bucket option. The coverlines in
the same font but multi-coloured, was easy to produce with
this software but the benefits of this is that it will draw the
attention for the reader, to delve further and enjoy my
magazine.
The DVD winning product is bold and prominent next to the
Masthead, and this was easy to import, crop and position
with Photoshop software. All future promotions will be in
the same place, to enable continuity for my magazine.
I used Photoshop Software to create my front cover as it
gives me the freedom to create, crop , straighten and
combine multiple images into a new scene, easily and
effectively.
10. Process
I have started to create my ‘Double
Page Spread’. It has been made
bold and visually impacting.
The title and a slogan, have
been shown in a bold white font
against a multicoloured dark
background by using the functions
of Photoshop software for maximum
effect. I experimented with other
colours but decided that the ones I
used worked well together, and this
software make it easy to be
creative and explore what worked
well and what didn't
The five star review has been
shown in a different colour, so it
stands out boldly within the article
of my magazine. Photoshop
enabled all this to be dynamic.
11. Process
On the top right of my ‘Double
Page Spread’, I have added an
image of a scene and a behind the
scene image from ‘The Batman’
movie.
I was able to create this by using
Photoshop Software, which
allowed me to import and merge
these images together, and to
create a white background with
'bat' symbols around it, from the
functions available on this
software.
I kept the black and brown as a
contrasting background to
continue the sense of mystery and
suspense. Photoshop
allowed me to merge these
colours together perfectly.
12. Process
I used Photoshop Software to
create this, as it gave me the
ability to blend the top left
hand cover for added mystery
and dramatic effect. This was
easy to achieve when using
the palette of colours in the
colour bucket option of
Photoshop software.
Within the description, I have
added, information about the
new ‘Batman’ movie.
I purposely made the text
small and bold, against a
brown background, to make
the product visually appealing
13. Process
This is the main image of my ‘Double
Page Spread’. I was able to control the
desired finish that I wanted by using
Photoshop Software and importing and
editing the image, including the colour
and exposure to my desired effect.
This image as well as the background
is striking and dramatic. It depicts the
main character of the movie that I am
reviewing and draws the eye all around
the image from the foreground to the
background for maximum dramatic and
visual effect.
Photoshop allowed me to experiment
with a multitude of imported images
before I decided on this one, as it
depicts the image of the main character
as moody, pensive and sets the scene
as tense, and this is what I wanted to
14. Process
This is the final design for my ‘Double Page Spread’. I
improved on the layout through reflection of feedback from
'Survey Monkey' and revisiting my pre-production,
proposal, research and planning stages.
By using the Photoshop Software, it enabled me to change
and improve the layout, images colours, exposure and
fonts by using the varied options on this software.
The software allowed me to use these colours and fonts
against my chosen background to their best effect making
my product visually stimulating to the reader. The imagery
is just right as not to deflect the reader from enjoying the
The double page spread above is from
'Film Magazine' and is shown as a
contrasting image to mine opposite.
I changed style for my double page
spread to a similar design to the
existing products, by trying to poach
readers from their existing
magazines. Afterall, the double page
spread will be what some readers buy
the publication for to curb their
curiosity and interest, and for
entertainment purposes also
