1. Feedback
• Could you mention more technical processes
such as the tools you used In photoshop and why
to create this image. Was it easy or difficult to
achieve and why? Will you do something similar
in your final magazine production? Why?
• Your reflection still needs to follow the Point,
Example, Explain (why/how) structure we
discussed. Manke sure you do this for each part.
4. Process
I edited the pictures of the characters and
the background for my technical production,
so that it would be dramatic and unique for
my target audience.
This has provided a fresh image that has not
been used before, so it will appeal to my
target audience in its design and
newness. The flames and dark backgrounds
displayed as opposites complement each
other perfectly.
I wanted to be creative in my design and by
accomplishing this I used ADOBE Photoshop
Software tools, namely the shapes, import
images, colour bucket (palette colours) and
magic wand tool for cropping.
Initially I found this software to be difficult to
use, but I overcame this with practise and by
experimenting.
5. Process
In my Technical Production Stage I decided to
give one reader the opportunity to win this
product.
The design was achieved by using Photoshop
software, and it was easy to use, as I could
import the image, use the magic tool for
cropping the size and using the colour bucket
for my palette colours, as well as being able to
erase and edit. This software enable me to be
bold with my visual presentation, so that this is
clearly highlighted on my front cover for the
readers.
I chose to do this following viewing other
established magazines that already give the
reader the opportunity to win a product. In
addition to this, following my responses that I
received from 'Survey Monkey', the feedback
was to include this form of prize giveaway.
6. Process
This is the header of my film
magazine.
I wanted my header to attract the
audience in its boldness and
unique and innovative design,
and to make it gender neutral,
meaning that it would be open to
male and female readers alike.
In order to accomplish this, I had
to use Photoshop software which
enabled me to merge the colours
using the 'colour bucket' and
allowed me to choose my desired
font. This was relatively easy to
perform using this software..
7. Process
This tagline on the bottom left of
my film magazine, is short and
simple and catchy for the reader,
as it will give them the insight
into the contents of the
magazine.
I chose this to be bold in its
design so that it would be eye-
catching to my potential
audience, by using the tools on
Photoshop software of merging
the colours via the palette on the
colour bucket function and
choosing the desired font. It was
quick and easy to achieve this
desired look.
8. Process
I experimented many times using
Photoshop software before ending
up with this final design.
I had to revisited my Planning and
Research Documents in order to
experiment with the different types
of fonts, colours and images, so it
was not straight forward.
I used Photoshop for the importing of
images, colour bucket for my palette
of colours and fonts. This was an
intermediate problem that I had to
overcome, but I think the end result
is well worth it.
10. Process
I chose this DVD as my main topic
for my double page spread, due
to my product being based on a
Superhero theme.
In order to attract the reader's
attention, I chose this upcoming
DVD release to gain their
interest.
I created this image by being able
to import the image and then
merging the colours via the
colour bucket on the Photoshop
software. This was not time
consuming or difficult to do and
the result is excellent.
11. Process
I chose with the same tagline for
continuity on the front cover of my
magazine, so that it will remain
visually appealing to the readers.
I chose it to be bold in its design and
eye catching to my potential
audience by continuing with the
same colours and font and design.
The design was easily achieved with
using the colour bucket so that I
could merge the colours and chose
my desired font on Photoshop
software. This was quick and easy
to do.
12. Process
These are the descriptions on my
Double Page Spread. They
express my views and opinions for
when the DVD will be released and
on what format.
I chose this format for consistency
and used the same parameters as
before by using the tools on
Photoshop software. This
software enabled me easily and
efficiently to establish a tone that
fits its genre.
This will make it pleasing to the
eye of the reader.
13. Process
I have added this image to my double
page spread, so that the image heavily
links to the genre of the magazine.
This was by desired outcome and was
easily achieved by importing the
image on Photoshop software, so that
it connects the reader to the magazine
by establishing eye contact with the
actor's image.
This is a dramatic scene, which
provides interest and intrigue for the
reader, and it was easy to
accomplish.
14. Process
I looked at a variety of existing products
during my planning and research stages and
decided to use a similar style for my final
design for my double page spread magazine.
The images are heavily linked to the genre of
the magazine, and I have chosen the colours
and fonts to be bold and dynamic.
Photoshop enabled me with its editing tools
to create the final design that I wanted. This
software allowed me to be visually creative
by creating and editing colours, font, and
image compositions easily and effectively.
15. Reflection
What elements of your experiments will you include in your final
product?
I will achieve this in my final product by having experimented with different colours and fonts, together with
images using the variety of tools on the Photoshop software. I now know the format that I wish my product
to be and know how to use this tools to create it.
I have maintained consistency with the design and colours for my magazine which will ease reading and
maintain a tone that fits with the genre of my magazine. This is important so that potential and existing
readers can recognise my brand quickly and easily on the shelves of newsagents.
I have been able to create a Masthead which is bold and unique and is fresh to the existing market. In
addition, I have used taglines which provide one word which is easily picked up by the reader, and the
coverlines provide the reader with the idea of what is within the magazine. Using the Photoshop software, I
have been able to decipher the colour schemes that I have used and fonts, these are perfectly suited to my
target audience.
I have also been able to use the import images function on this software to include the images of the actors
who are instantly recognisable, and who will want to make the reader delve into my magazine for sheer
curiosity.
