An Iowa-based drug prevention organization, Rock in Prevention offers programs to help transform the lives of young people and give them hope for a better future. Since its establishment in 1990, Rock in Prevention has launched multiple initiatives, including Rock Digi, a remote learning platform that utilizes music as a powerful learning tool. People interact with music almost everywhere, including the streets, concerts, homes, phones, and in schools and classrooms. Active engagement with music in a learning environment helps boost how the brain processes information, which greatly enhances key learning metrics such as language, speech, and communication. Music in a learning setting also helps to build imagination and improves intellectual curiosity. Through music, students can express themselves in new ways as it helps to promote divergent thinking, which is a key component of creativity. Training the mind to broaden imagination is beneficial for equipping students with skills that assist them in other spheres of education. In addition, music has the ability to regulate moods, particularly stress and anxiety. When students are in better control of their emotions, they perceive things positively, which helps boost their learning potential.
