Rock In Prevention, located in Des Moines, Iowa, provides youth development and addiction prevention services through music and mentorship. For 26 years, Rock has presented life skills training at the Catholic Youth Camp (CYC) and will do so again in 2017 for five weeks of camp involving middle school, elementary, and high school students. The St. Thomas More Center will also offer an Adventure Camp from July 30 to August 4 for ages 12 and up, where 35 participants can learn wilderness survival skills like pitching tents, building fires, and cooking over dutch ovens under trained counselors.

2. Introduction
• Through music and mentorship, Rock In Prevention, (Rock)
provides youth development and addiction prevention
services. Located in Des Moines, Iowa the program has been
utilized in 14 states. Rock In Prevention also supports and is
involved with a variety of local organizations dedicated to
promoting healthy choices among youth, including the St.
Thomas More Center.
Rock life skills for success training has been presented at
Catholic Youth Camp CYC for 26 years. This year training will
be presented with the Catholic Youth Camp (CYC) community
for five weeks of camp in 2017. This will include 2 weeks of
Middle School Students, 3 weeks with a combination of
elementary and middle school students and will utilize High
School and College age mentors and adult camp staff.

3. St. Thomas More Center
• In the summer of 2017, the St. Thomas More Center
will also offer young people the opportunity for
adventure and wilderness survival with a unique
camping experience. Suitable for ages 12 and up, the
Adventure Camp has space for only 35 participants.
The camp will run from July 30 through August 4.
Participants in the Adventure Camp will explore the
forests around their camp and immerse themselves
in nature. They will learn to pitch tents, build fires,
cook meals dutch-oven style, and perform other
essential survival skills under the leadership of camp
staff and trained counselors. CYC is known for its
spirit of service.
