Serves as a Senior Administrative Assistant for half of all of the labs (BRL, LM, LMB, LCB,
LCO, LCBG, and LCMB) in the Basic Research ARC at the Center for Cancer Research (CCR),
NCI:
Budget
-Compiles, organizes, analyzes and evaluates financial information to assist in the planning of
new budgets as well as assessing the performance of the current/approved budgets of the assigned
Labs/Branches by determining whether obligations, expenditures, and requested allotments are
within funding limitations.
-Projects budget shortfalls or unanticipated financial needs, ensures funds are properly allocated,
obligated and spent to support program goals. In the case where budget shortfalls are
anticipated/projected, develops solutions to ensure the programs stay within their allocations.
-Identifies and applies new processes, information or procedures and applies to annual budget
plans.
-Evaluates the financial performance of assigned Lab/Branches, analyzes strategic operating
plans and applies towards the development of new budgets.
-Assists the Administrative Officer in compiling Fiscal Year Close-out daily reporting, applies
knowledge of federal budget processes to determine budget availability. Assists AOs with
monthly budget reports. Attends monthly budget meetings to track the status of ongoing projects.
-Utilizes NIH and CCR systems such as SOFie, BMS, Cognos (Frederick/Leidos).
Human Resources
-Provides guidance and advice on routine human resource issues to ARC and program staff
including Lab Chiefs, Deputy Directors, and Principal Investigators.
-Reviews all personnel packages for assigned lab/branches, including FTE (T5, T42), Non-FTE
(CRTAs/Visiting Fellows, Contractors, Special Volunteers, Guest Researchers, Summer
Students, and Collaborators), requesting information or documentation from program as needed.
-Coordinate with lab/program staff, Division of International Services (DIS), Human Resources
(OHR) to resolve requests in a timely fashion.
-Maintain and establish filing systems, including electronic files for easy tracking and retrieval of
status updates and final approval. Utilizes Jira-PAT.
-Develop Position Descriptions, provides advice and recommendation to lab/program managers

on solutions for resolving staffing and recruitment issues.
-Utilizes systems such as NED, EDiE/Beacon, FPS, CapHR, LMS.
Procurement
-Provide guidance to lab/program staff and management on all aspects of procurement, including
equipment, supplies, property, contracts, and other materials and service requisitions.
-Prepare and submit procurement requests using POTS adhering to HHS/NIH/NCI/CCR polies
and procedures, including but not limited to preparing cost comparisons and estimates, obtaining
competitive quotes, providing support documentation (such as a sole-source justification).
-Conduct negotiations with vendors to obtain goods and services, create Statement of Work for
use of contracts, develops acquisition plans including strategy, obtaining approvals and
clearances, selection of contract type, and development of milestones.
-Monitor contractor performance and compliance with terms and condition of purchase orders.
Travel
-Reviews domestic, foreign and sponsored travel for the Basic Research ARC (15
Labs/Branches).
-Provides guidance and advice to program staff and ARC staff.
-Track conference attendance data for HHS-level data calls.
-Verify and approve expenditures related to relocation to household goods.
Other Duties & Accomplishments
-Acts as liaison with the Facilities Management office to coordinate logistics of space and office
relocation and moves, property, dry-ice delivery, and more.
-Coordinates the monthly delivery/pick-up of 30+ staff’s purchase reconciliations from the
Procurement ARC, CCR to the Basic ARC Card Approval Officials.
-Coordinated a massive ARC-wide Spring Cleaning Day to clear out 5+ years of old
administrative files, disposing them according to the NIH policies and procedures.
-Approve training requests in LMS.
- Provide printer/copier meter reads to Canon & Xerox.
-Train Administrative Technicians and other ARC staff on daily processes, ARC-policies, and
administrative systems.
CCR Support Staff, National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH)
Bethesda, MD (June 2013–August 2015) [$72,626/yr.]
As a support staff member for CCR, I assist with the daily facilities operations for NIH buildings
37, 41 & the CCR space in building 10.
- My team monitors & maintains the -80, -20 & LN2 freezer alarm systems (REES
Scientific & Mesa Monitoring). We program, install, manage & maintain the system and
keep monitored freezer contacts informed of any issues. I routinely correspond with both
REES Scientific & Mesa Monitoring with contract, service & technical issues.

- I assist with space management for CCR space that needs to be vacated, renovated &
occupied. Correspond with current occupants and Fox moving services to plan and
coordinate moves and surplus equipment removal. Correspond with my supervisor about
effective ways of serving ORF/ORS & NIH in lab space management.
- I assist with standing orders of CO2, LN2 & dry ice for NIH buildings 37, 41 & 10.
Correspond with Cryo Express about submitting invoices for payment of NIH gases
purchased and service contract issues.
- I manage various small little jobs (SLJ’s) and handyman express requests to completion
& procure small contracts with Fox, Phelps & Phelps, AUS & Gilbane. I coordinate
handyman jobs for lab occupants and submit service requests for small little jobs under
$2000.
- I also assist with ordering for my staff via POTS & NIH Stock.
- Assist with safety clearance requests and correspond with Safety Specialists in getting
vacated lab spaces cleared for renovation

Laboratory Manager/Biologist, National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of
Health (NIH) Bethesda, MD (May 2005–June 2013) [$64,456/yr.]
Laboratory Manager:
As the laboratory manager in the Hunter lab (Metastasis Susceptibility Section), I am responsible
for processing lab orders, receiving and organizing lab reagents/supplies, maintaining order
among post-doctoral fellows in regards to tissue culture room duties, and a host of various lab
maintenance (ie. tagging hazardous materials for disposal).
Biologist:
As a senior member in the Laboratory of Cancer Biology and Genetics (LCBG), I am responsible
for maintaining the mouse colony and assisting my Principal Investigator in performing
experiments vital to laboratory projects. My duties started with experimental animal procedures
and tissue collection and progressed to bench science assays and analysis. Multi-tasking, attention
to detail and accurate record-keeping are vital to efficiently performing assigned duties. I have
assisted in several experiments that were published in scientific journals (listed below).
