 Main purpose of communication is to transfer information
from a source to a recipient via a channel or medium.

5. Digital Communication & Why
 Digital communication is any message passed through digital devices.
 Any type of information that is passed digitally.
 Digital communication that is capable of very high speeds, suitable for
transmission of images or voice or video as well as data.
 In digital communication, the transmission of information is done
in digital form or in encoded form. Means, we encrypt the signal which gives
us added security to our information signal being transmitted. The signal is
sent from transmitter through a channel to the receiver.

.The Digital Communication's main advantage is that it provides us added
security to our information signal.
.Digital signals carry more information per second than analogue
signals. This is the same whether optical fibers, cables or radio waves are
used.
.Digital signals maintain their quality over long distances better than
analogue signals.
.Privacy is preserved by using data encryption
.Generally, more bandwidth is required than that for analog systems.

 Military communications or military signals involve all aspects
of communications, or conveyance of information, by armed forces.
 Military communications span from pre-history to the present. The earliest
military communications were delivered by humans on foot. Later,
communications progressed to visual and audible signals, and then
advanced into the electronic age.
Military communications equipment
 Drums, horns, flags, and riders on horseback were some of the early
methods the military used to send messages over distances. In the middle
20th century radio equipment came to dominate the field.

Compression is useful because it reduces resources required to store and transmit
data.
Video quality is reduced as the file is more compressed
Compression is the practice of reducing the number of bits (0s or 1s) in a file. A
video file typically can contain more than one type of compression:

 Data compression is about storing and sending a smaller number of bits.
 Data compression is particularly useful in communications because it
enables devices to transmit or store the same amount of data in fewer bits

 Speech processing is the study of speech signals and
the processing methods of these signals.
 The signals are usually processed in a digital representation, so speech
processing can be regarded as a special case of digital signal processing,
applied to speech signal.

 Digital signal processing (DSP) is the use of digital processing, such as by
computers, to perform a wide variety of signal processing operations
 Converting a continuously changing waveform(analog) into a series of
discrete levels(digital).
