Founded in 1989, Sakhi is a nonprofit organization
that provides support and advocacy for South Asian
women who have been victims of domestic
violence.
In pursuit of its mission, Sakhi offers a range of
programs and services, including crisis response,
translation assistance, support groups, and low-tono-cost healthcare.

Recently, Sakhi also launched its Youth
Empowerment Program, which provides a resource
for young South Asian women seeking information
on dating, healthy relationships, and sexuality.
Currently, the program functions primarily in the
Queens, New York, community and is being
conducted through outreach events in public schools
as well as workshops and group meetings.
As an example of the valuable work being
performed by Sakhi, the Youth Empowerment
Program is striving to end violence against women
through education and support.
