3.  The research project looked at the impact that certain
policy investments could have on poverty in the city.
The policies examined all pushed for employment
and self-sufficiency while also providing supports as
individuals achieve economic stability. Ultimately,
researchers found that investing in certain anti-
poverty policies involving job training, economic
security, and family support could reduce poverty in
New York by up to 69 percent. These investments
would go beyond relieving the effects of poverty and
take steps toward ending poverty in the city
altogether.
