Roslyn Daniels, President & Founder, Black Health Matters is
Leading Women Entrepreneurs Finalist
Clinton, New Jersey. Roslyn Daniels, President and Founder of Black Health Matters, is a finalist for 2016 Leading
Women Entrepreneur. Ms. Daniels is a highly accomplished entrepreneur making a difference in the community
by showcasing issues surrounding the health of African Americans. The Leading Women Entrepreneurs and
Business Owner Initiative is an honor bestowed among women who drive the economic engine in New Jersey.
Awardees are selected from by an independent committee from hundreds of applicants who are judged in four
areas: Market Potential, Innovation, Advocacy for Women and Community Involvement. This honor is well-
deserved by Roslyn Daniels who is a force to be reckoned with in addressing the health disparities of African
Americans.
Ms. Daniels’ company, Black Health Matters, is the leading patient and consumer-focused content syndicator for
African Americans with more than 300K monthly unique visitors. She is a tireless advocate for eliminating health
disparities by improving the health literacy of today’s underserved consumers. Roslyn recently launched the
‘Prescription for Exercise’ initiative—formally adopted by the National Medical Association—to “prescribe”
physical activity in proper "dosages" to more effectively manage over 40 of the most common chronic health
conditions.
Roslyn launched her career in media & publishing in 1985, becoming ‘Salesperson of the Year’ at Essence
Magazine. In 1989 she led the launch of Fitness Magazine and later rose through the ranks of Forbes, ultimately
overseeing content development and ad sales for a quarterly series focused on African American health issues
(inspiration for Black Health Matters).
Outside of her business, Roslyn is Vice Chair of the Program Committee for the Links Incorporate of Bergen
County, where she directs and manages key initiatives, including feeding the homeless, scholarship drives and
community health workshops. she is also a member of the Health Ministry at Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem,
New York. As an ovarian cancer survivor, she often speaks to the importance of annual screenings, and of being a
knowledgeable patient. Professionally, she mentors women entrepreneurs on revenue acquisition and
management.
