• A resident of New Jersey, Rao Chalasani has worked with trading
technology for multiple banks in New York, NY, including Bank of
America and Deutsche Bank. Outside of work, Rao Chalasani
contributes to numerous charitable organizations, including the
Sankara Eye Foundation.
Working to end curable blindness in India by 2020, the Sankara Eye
Foundation (SEF) provides free eye care to impoverished individuals
who live in rural areas. To this end, the organization builds highly
specialized, self-sufficient eye care hospitals in India.
Founded by Dr. Radha Ramani and Dr. RV Ramani in 1977, SEF has
grown considerably and now has 1,800 beds to provide community
eye care throughout India.

3. Sankara Eye Foundation
• The organization’s 1,100 professionals use the latest
medical technologies and interventions to offer care to
those in need through the organization’s nine
community eye care hospitals in India.
SEF receives funding through its fundraising arm, SEF,
USA, which was founded in 2014. Since then, SEF, USA,
has helped fund more than 1.25 million free surgeries.
