3. INTRODUCTION
Concern for environment due to excessive
use of fossil fuels needs harnessing
renewable energy source.
Wind power has proved to be the most
promising renewable energy source over the
past decades.
The world has a total installed wind
energy capacity of 743 GW. This has
helped avoid an annual CO2 emission of
over 1.1 billion tones.
All of the 32.8 GW year-on-year increase
came from onshore wind markets.

WIND ENERGY GENERATION
Electricity created from the naturally
flowing air is called wind energy.
Average speed of wind turbine is 10-20
RPM and generator speed is 1800
RPM.

ADVANTAGES
Very low carbon dioxide emissions.
No environmental impact from mining and drilling.
Completely sustainable.
Turbine work anywhere in the world.
Unlike fossil-fueled power , wind energy operating costs are
predictable years in advance.
New jobs in construction , operation and manufacturing of turbine.

DISADVANTAGES
Extra cost and complexity of balancing variable wind power with
other forms of power.
Extra cost of upgrading the power gride and transmission line
, though the whole system often benefits.
Damage local wildlife.
Large overall land required.

CONCLUSIONS
Total wind energy potential in India is 302 GW. And offshore wind energy potential
is maximum in Gujrat.
Wind Energy is environment friendly renewable energy.
Installed wind energy capacity is 38 GW and government of India planned to
increase 60GW by 2022.
Wind energy rapidly increasing with the passage of time. government as well as
world is putting effort to understand its importance and bring best out of it.
