2. Motivation for Involvement
• The fact that Texas has become such a
battleground state drives me to vote to keep
MOST of it the same.
• I would like to see in changes in some areas
such as the death penalty and our current
immigration system.
3. Things I’ve Learned
1. The way that Death sentences work in Texas
is something that I was not aware of and
something I am alarmed by.
2. I was not aware of the all of the different
tiers of courts that exist in Texas from the
county level to the supreme court of Texas.
4. Immigration
The huge amount of immigration into Texas,
puts Texas is under immense pressure to
upkeep such a large influx of people and to
adapt the their needs.
It will be important for Texas to come up with
an immigration policy that fits the 500,000 plus
people that move to Texas every year.
5. Federal Influence
Texas is one of the largest states in America in
land and in population. Federal decision
making is based upon (or should be) a
collective opinion of all the states and their
people.
Texas has such a huge migration from other
states to it, the federal government should take
a look at what Texas is doing right and
implement policies that make Texas so
attractive to citizens of other states at a
national level.
6. Embedded Knowledge
This class has taught me a lot about Texas
government.
- I will remember the death penalty system in
Texas.
- I will be able to discuss Texas political culture
in detail.
- I will be able to discuss immigration and the
potential swing to a blue state in detail.
Thanks for a Great Experience!
