2. Active in Politics
I believe in a strong national defense, therefore I vote for politicians who feel the same.
I vote to preserve the free market, personal responsibility and want a limited government.
I would like to see Texas be more active in politics so that we see a change.
As a Texan, the culture has always been traditionalistic and individualistic, so I hope that this stays
the same.
3. Surprising Government Processes
I learned that the Texas governor is formally very weak while having the head position.
The governor is able to influence the public by having good leadership and communication
skills.
Texas governors must use all of their informal powers of persuasion and their political skills in
order to be successful.
4. Important Political Issue
Illegal immigration will always affect our state because of how fast our population is growing.
Many farms and rural areas that help our economy are being taken over by larger highways and
smaller cities to support life for new people.
Eventually, Texas will lose lots of money from the lack of agricultural products.
Texas will lose cattle, cotton fields, chicken farms and many others which will have an impact on
our economy.
5. The Role Texas Plays
Texas is known as a red state, meaning the majority voters are conservatives and vote for
republican candidates.
Our state holds the second most electoral votes in the country which could affect the turnout of
the presidential election.
6. What I Learned
Voting is important to express my political views which also is important in this state due to a low
voters turnout rate.
My dream job is a Game Warden, and I now know that I will work in the state with the most law
enforcement agencies.
Texas has one of the highest incarceration rates in the nation.
The state legislature plays many important roles in the criminal justice system:
Lay out state rules
Specify what constitutes a rule violation
Punishments that will be applied
Duties of law enforcement and the courts
