1. My name is Lillyan McDaniel and I am majoring in Business.
2. The reason I am motivated to be involved with politics
is mainly the equality issues occurring. For example,
the new abortion law. I do no agree with this law and I
feel as if it is taking away rights from women. Not only
am I motivated to be involved in politics because of
women rights but rights with everyone. I believe
everyone should be treated exactly the same with no
differences, no matter the race, religion, gender,
wealthiness, etc. I am not one to be very involved in
politics, and equality is one of the main and only
reasons I stay even the tiniest bit involved.
3. - One of the things I have learned in this class that
surprised me the most is the criminal rate in
Texas. It is very high and I was not expecting the
criminal rate to be as high as it is.
- Another thing that caught me by surprise is the
death penalty cost and why we still do it with the
cost. The cost of having someone punished with
death penalty is so much that I was surprised they
were doing this with the excuse of it costing too
much for taxes, etc.
4. The politic issue I believe is concerning and that the
future generations need to know about is how our
state needs to turn to a third party or turn blue. This
is being put in the younger generations hands. I
believe we need to turn to either of these because we
need more personal freedom and a main thing is the
government needs less control over us as people. If we
turn blue or to a third party as in libertarian, then we
will more than likely have more personal freedom and
the government will not have as much control and
that is why this is significant.
5. I feel like Texas does not play as much of a
role as people think they do. I do think that
when Texas said no mask were required
and opened stores, fast food places, etc.
that this got the attention of the federal
government and possibly could have
influenced the decision making for them.
6. A few lessons that I will take on with me beyond this
course is the death penalty, the possibility of Texas
turning blue and why, and also information about the
crime rates in Texas. I learned a lot in this course and
these three topics were the ones that interested me and
caught my attention.
