2. introduction
Artificial intelligence is
extending its frontier in
technology and
knowledge. Wherever you
see, people are discussing
about machines with
intelligence which improve
our lives. A lot of
applications and concepts
remain highly technical
and can be little confusing
if you're not strong at your
foundation part. I am here
to make you master the
basics of artificial
intelligence and help you
conquer the AI world.
3. HISTORY
• The field of AI research
was born at a workshop at
Dartmouth College in
1956,[where the term
"Artificial Intelligence" was
coined by John McCarthy
to distinguish the field from
cybernetics and escape the
influence of the
cyberneticist Norbert
Wiener.
4. PHILOSPHY
• While exploiting the power
of the computer systems,
the curiosity of human, lead
him to wonder, “Can a
machine think and behave
like humans do?”
• Thus, the development of AI
started with the intention of
creating similar intelligence
in machines that we find
and regard high in humans.
5. Goals of A.I.
• To Create Expert Systems
− The systems which
exhibit intelligent
behavior, learn,
demonstrate, explain, and
advice its users.
• To Implement Human
Intelligence in Machines
− Creating systems that
understand, think, learn,
and behave like humans.
6. APPLICATIONS OF A.I.
• Gaming − AI plays crucial role in strategic games
such as chess, poker, etc., where machine can
think of large number of possible positions
based on heuristic knowledge.
• Expert Systems − There are some applications
which integrate machine, software, and special
information to impart reasoning and advising.
They provide explanation and advice to the
users.
• Vision Systems − These systems understand,
interpret, and comprehend visual input on the
computer. For example,
– A spying aeroplane takes photographs, which are used
to figure out spatial information or map of the areas.
– Doctors use clinical expert system to diagnose the
patient.
– Police use computer software that can recognize the
face of criminal with the stored portrait made by
forensic artist.
• Speech Recognition − Some intelligent systems
are capable of hearing and comprehending the
language in terms of sentences and their
meanings while a human talks to it.
• Intelligent Robots − Robots are able to perform
the tasks given by a human. They have sensors
to detect physical data from the real world such
as light, heat, temperature, movement, and
pressure. They have efficient processors,
multiple sensors and huge memory, to exhibit
intelligence
7. Humanity V/S A.I.
• AI can be a big threat to humanity when
it reaches child-like intelligence of
toddler. That means ability to think, but
not enough ability/knowledge to foresee
far-fetching consequences of one's
actions. For some reason people tend to
forget that before we go from current
machines to god-like AI-supermind, there
are several steps in-between. AI will go
through intelligence level of a worm, a
rat, a cat, a child and then a human. After
that it may surpass humanity. The
problem here is that synthetic being may
have "intuitive" understanding of our
informational technologies, superior
thinking speed, while retaining
insufficient intelligence to comprehend
consequences of actions. Imagine digital
cat on the web that preys on specific
servers
9. DISADDVANTAGES OF A.I.
• AI is Unsustainable
• It creates lesser jobs
i.e. unemployment
• A threat to
Humanity. As they
are more intelligent
than us they could
be a threat for us.
10. DIFFERENT TYPES OF A.I.
• Reactive machines. The
most basic types of AI
systems are purely
reactive,...
• Limited memory...
• Theory of mind...
• Self-awareness...
11. Current state of a.i.
• The Current State Of
Artificial Intelligence
[Infographic] That’s a
question that is best
answered by the people
working on the Blue Brain
Project in Switzerland.
They believe they can
recreate the human brain
in a super computer, and
so far they have recreated
10 billion of our brain’s
85.9 billion neurons.
12. Differences between robot and ai
• An AI is a computer
program designed for
tasks normally requiring
human intelligence (a
human's ability to
learn), while a robot is
a machine that
completes complex
tasks. An AI could be
used to control a robot,
but they are very
different.
16. CONCLUSION
• I hope that as you read
through the topics covered
in this article, you will not
only become more
interested in AI, but will
also be challenged to
speak more openly and
often about it, and perhaps
even begin to work with
new AI tools for yourself.
