2. All the props we used in our music video had
a meaning behind them, whether that be
metaphorical or intertextual references.
3. BACKPACK
The backpack the main character uses in our music video is a
backpack that a normal teenager would use, as we wanted to
show through our video that any normal person can suffer from
mental health issues. The significance of the backpack
and the fact that she constantly has it with her is
that it implies that she is hiding something
inside; a metaphor for the fact that she
is hiding how she is feeling from everyone
around her.
4. BOOK
The book that the main character is reading
on the train is holds metaphorical meaning as
the storyline involves a character suffering
from depression. This reflects what the main
character is actually going through.
5. PHOTO
We used a photo of the
main character with her
friends in the beginning of the video, again showing that
people with mental health issues can live a normal life and do
things like go out with their friends. The photo however then
fades to black and white and becomes a bad memory, which
clouds the good one and immediately changes the main
character’s state of mind, which we see when the next thing
she does is go to take the antidepressants. We see her state
of mind deteriorate further when she receives the nasty text
messages about the fact that she takes medication for her
mental health
6. PILLS
The label on the bottle of tablets that the main character is
taking holds many intertextual references.
