4. Intergovernmental Organization (IGO)
ďThe term intergovernmental organization (IGO) refers to an entity created by
treaty, involving two or more nations, to work in good faith, on issues of common
interest.
ďThe Delian League (478â404 BC, and subsequently from 378â338 BC), an
alliance of Greek city-states, may be considered the first example of an IGO.
ďthe Congress of Vienna of 1815 may be regarded as the actual birth of
international organizations.
Non-governmental organization (NGO)
ďA non-governmental organization (NGO) is any non-profit, voluntary citizens'
group which is organized on a local, national or international level.
ďThe Red Cross: The Worldâs Helper
Founded by 16 nations in 1863, the International Red Cross is the first NGO
