● Adverbs (non-intensifiers) are words that can be
moved in a sentence (without changing the
meaning).
○ We walked slowly to class.
○ Slowly, we walked to class.
● If you can’t move a word that you think is an
adverb, it’s not an adverb.
○ The book was very interesting.
○ Interesting, the book was very.
● Adverbs can be removed from sentences.
○ We will go to class soon.
○ We will go to class.
