W hether you’re
new to
Rolesville or you attended
Rollesville last year, this
school year promises to be
great. This is a year of firsts
for Rolesville and like last
year it’s going to be fun
finding what makes
Rolesville, Rolesville. This
year’s sophomores and jun-iors
have already enjoyed a
great year and now the new
freshman can too. “Last year
was a successful first year
for Rolesville High. I’m
very excited to see what this
year has in store for all of
the students and I am so
proud to be a part of
Rolesville High School,”
stated junior Speaker of the
House Hailey Von Krusze.
This year marks the first
time the freshman get to
attend this school with veter-an
students, unlike last year
when the entire student body
was new to Rolesville.
“Last year was a
really good year. Of course
we had some ups and downs
but overall it was a good
year of learning and building
the culture of our school,”
said principal Mrs. Lucas.
She continued stating, “I
think this current year is
already a
lot better.
Everyone
seems to
be ready
to move
our
school to
the next
level. We
have
hired
some
great
teachers and we continue to
find “The Rolesville Way.” I
am even more excited this
year about all of our pro-grams;
we accomplished a
lot this year. I have no doubt
that we will continue our
climb towards excellence.”
Mrs. Lucas and the staff at
Rolesville High School
strive to reach one common
goal, to help you, the stu-dents,
graduate. When asked
about Mrs. Lucas sophomore
Jairo Rodrigues responded,
“Mrs. Lucas is doing a fine
job taking care of the school;
she is helpful and
is kind to all her students.
She is a very cool principal.”
Rolesville high is not just
about teaching students
material, but also to creating
an environment where stu-dents
can grow and be re-laxed.
“At Rolesville High
School, I always enjoy com-ing
to school. The teachers
are very interactive and make
class fun, while learning at
the same time. The teachers
are enthusiastic to be at this
second year school, and their
positive attitudes rub off on
to the students.” said sopho-more
Wesley Pritzlaff.
Rolesville has sev-eral
sports teams to keep
students motivated, to get in
shape, and to create fun
memories. Rolesville also
has a club for everyone in
order for students to become
involved, create friendships,
and support the community.
According to junior Execu-tive
Vice President Ashley
Brooke Daniels,
“Rolesville’s ability to grow
into such a largely diverse
place so quickly takes me
back. We have something for
everyone, and if not the ad-ministration
strongly encour-ages
and is very helpful if
you want to start a club.”

RAM Leaders By Sydni Williams and Alexis DeFelippis
Do you want to make an im-pact
at Rolesville High School? If you
are innovative, organized, outgoing, and
possess leadership qualities you will be
the perfect candidate for Rolesville’s
Student Government Association. SGA
is a great way to get involved at
Rolesville High School! SGA helps
plan and execute Rolesville’s main
events, create memories with new and
old friends, and develop leadership
qualities. Because Rolesville is in it’s
beginning years members of SGA have
the unique opportunity of being a
founder member as well as leaving an
everlasting footprint.
During SGA’s second year
many great events are already sched-uled.
SGA has sponsored this weeks
spirit week with of themed clothing,
Wednesday’s powder puff game, and
today’s pep rally. SGA is looking for-ward
to Reindeer Days on November
8th, Rolesville’s first formal dance, and
the talent show in the spring. Sopho-more
treasurer Sydni Williams is re-cruiting
those who are interested, “To
make these events epic SGA needs
needs your help!” SGA meetings are the
first Thursday of every month, stop by
Mrs. Hall’s room (3803), October 2nd,
if you are interested in joining or want
to share ideas! Help make the best
Rolesville High School memories yet!`
Did you end up in the wrong class at some point during the first week of
school? Maybe you were in a rush, maybe it was because every pod looks the same,
or maybe it was because you were completely lost. The good news is you weren’t
the only one. A poll revealed 26% of the student body at some point during the first
week was in the wrong class, that’s about 330 people! If you are a new freshman it’s
understandable right? Surprisingly, it wasn’t just freshman! Sophmores, juniors, and
teachers all found themselves lost throughout the first week. Seeing that Rolesville
High School is the largest school in Wake County, the majority of teachers from last
year changed classrooms, and Rolesville welcomed about 550 new students and staff
members maybe 26% of us getting lost isn’t too bad and By now you have hopefully
your way. When asked, juniors advised taking the outside stairways to avoid traffic
jams on the main stairwell to help you easily maneuver around school!
well as exclusive interviews with
athletes and students. Hosted by
anchorman, Patrick Baker and
assisted by reporters and writers,
Adrik Garcia, Aliana Fouse, Sydni
Williams and Manni Spencer,
RAM Replay is primed to release
seventeen episodes this season.

Rise for the Fries
By Patrick L. Baker and Victoria Moore
Some would think Rolesville High School students and staff would have a hard time finding something in common other
than spending most of the day at Rolesville High School. Diversity is one of the many things that make Rolesville excellent; however
around lunch time the two groups may not be so different. The majority of students and staff members can admit that at some point in
time, while attending Rolesville High School, they’ve poured money out of their pocket to purchase a serving of the very popular
French Fries. Last year, a full cup of the sought after side was $1.50 and there were rarely ever any left over. Due to changes in federal
lunch laws for the 2014-2015 school year the French Fries have been altered. Because the fries are no longer fried and the serving size
has been cut by two-thirds one would surely think the price would be reduced? Well, yes in fact it was, to fifty cents, but is that a fair
price? We asked around and found out what some of Rolesville’s own thought of the change.
After conversations with Rolesville students, the consensus is that the fries are extremely disliked. “I used to buy them daily,
but now they’re less crispy and soggier,” said sophomore Jacob Jackson when
asked about his opinion on the once popular fries. “It’s not worth the amount of
fries. Make it a quarter,” He continued on.
Sophomore Hans Bierer agreed, “Too little for the price, should be twenty-five
cents.”
So just how many people agreed with the notion that the popular food
should be reduced to twenty-five cents? 83% of people asked agreed that a price
reduction is necessary. “They’re good, but they’re hard and overpriced,” fresh-man,
Bryant Miller said, “I would knock the price down to only twenty-five
cents for what we get.”
Sophomore counselor Mr. McAullife sympathized with the students,
“I can see why the students are surprised about the change in the fries.” He con-tinued,
“I like the fries, at least they didn’t disappear!”
We’re now left wondering? Is it finally time to rise for the fries here at
Rolesville High School?
A Test for Success
By Eboni Williams and Sam Essig
Serving size: This year
vs. Last year
On Wednesday, October 15, 2014 approximately 3.5 million students will take part in a day of testing that will
help identify a direction for their future through the use of the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test, more commonly
referred to as the PSAT. The test will be administered to all Rolesville High School sophomores; however sophomore
students are not the only ones eligible. If you are a freshman that has passed Math 1 you’re eligible to take the PSAT at
the cost of $14.Those freshman interested should visit Student Services for more information. The PSAT is a standard
test that provides firsthand practice for college required Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) which is taken during your senior
year. It also gives students a chance to enter the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC ) scholarship programs
to gain access to collage and career planning tools.
This test measures reading, math and writing composition skills. The
information is used to rank students amongst all other students taking the test.
Speaking from experience, Chris Sweeny advises sophomores to “Take this
seriously all the way through. It’s not a grade and will prepare you for col-lage.”
In addition to sophomores, juniors will also be taking the Armed
Forces Vocational Aptitude Battery test (AFVAB). The AFVAB is a series of
tests developed by the Department of Defense and is used by the U.S. military
to determine the mental aptitude of future enlistees. The AFVAB also helps
determine which Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) you are best suited
for.
Both tests give you feed back about where you excel academically in
specific academic areas. Mrs. Ratliff, Dean of Students and junior counselor
here at Rolesville High School wants students to know these tests are “A great
opportunity for students to take advantage of a practice assessment to help
prepare them for future tests that will be used when applying for collage ad-mission
or other post-secondary plans.”
Mrs. Ratliff, Dean of Students
