Welcome to the AMA After School &
Summer Camp Programs!
Congratulations! And thank you for your interest in learning more about the AMA
After School and Summer Camp programs. Our After School and Summer Camp
programs are well-established. They were first opened in 2003. We have worked hard
over many years to buildan incredibleteam of Youth Development Professionalswho
continually strive to achieve higher levels of excellence for our students, parents, and
their families. By listening to literally thousands of families over the years we have
made it our mission to continually improve our ability to serve the families living in
the Clearwater, Largo, and Seminole communities. We are proud to be recognized as
the premier Youth Development organization of Pinellas County.
It is important for all new parents to know that we are very different than a typical
After School Program or Summer Camp. We are completely devoted to developing
children into strong leaders by following a time-tested and proven youth development
process. We align ourselves closely with parents to insure that the important family
values that are being taught at home are being echoed to their children while in our
care. We have improved many family dynamics with this formula. By providing two
unique and closely linked Youth Development programs, AMA After School and
Summer Camp, we are uniquely positioned to make a long-lasting positive impact on
your child, while simultaneously building a meaningful relationship with you; the
parents.
Sincerely,
Ric Martin

All Inclusive Tuition
We are not in favor of hidden charges and upsells. During the school year both transportation
from school and homework assistance are included. Summer Camp tuition includes daily
field trips, professional entertainers, nutrition education, and physical fitness awards. Both
programs proudly include Character Education, Leadership Development, Martial Arts
instruction, and Bully Prevention training.
Easy & Convenient Weekly Tuition
Our weekly tuition is the same amount every week from the beginning of the school year until
the end, including holidays, depending on which plan you choose.
Community Involvement
We are the proud recipient of the Business Partner of the Year Award for our multi-year
sponsorship of Character Education, and the Honor Roll and Principal’s list programs in
almost every elementary school in Largo and Seminole since 2003.
Staff to Student Ratios
We far exceed the 25:1 ratio standard set by the Pinellas County Licensing Board. Our ratio is
14:1. We also sponsor an internship and volunteer program providing leadership development
for our junior counselors. They serve as great young role models for our After School and
Summer Camps kids.

The Magic of Martial Arts!
Traditional martial arts instruction is legendary for leadership development.
Children are challenged with age and skill appropriate curriculum that helps instill
many positive and essential characteristics that build the foundation for a lifetime
of leadership ability and personal accomplishments.
● Self Confidence: This is attained through martial arts instruction as children
discover the feeling of personal success. This is especially powerful for children who
doubt themselves or have low self-esteem. They learn the importance of making and
keeping their commitments, consistently applying a solid work ethic and to always
demonstrate good character and values.
● Self Discipline: Martial arts teaches children to be self-reliant. They are taught to
do the things that they should do without having to be asked. They learn responsibility.
9. Page 9
● Self Defense: This is a very important psychological benefit that helps children
value themselves and maintain a high sense of self worth. Every time a student
performs a block they are subconsciously stating that they are worth defending. Over
time they gain a greater and greater sense of self worth and never feel the opposite;
worthless.
● Physical Fitness: Martial arts is a very well-rounded from a physical fitness
perspective.
● The Belt System: New students begin as Whitebelts. As they progress they are
invited to attend special “Belt Confirmations” during the evening. This is how they are
awarded their next belt. The “Belt Confirmation” experience is a unique. Children are
recognized by all of our families, instructors, and classmates. They glow like the sun!
● Weekly Focus Points: They identify specific technical aspects that are
emphasized to the students by their instructor.
Week 1: Stance
• Balance
• Strength
• Agility
Week 2: Mental & Emotional Control

• Think
• Prepare

Transportation
Daily, Monthly, and Annual Inspections: Any unusual vehicle performance
is reported on a daily basis. Written Vehicle Checklists are completed monthly, and
all vehicles are serviced by a licensed automotive mechanic annually for safety
certification.
Pick-Up Procedures: We notify
elementary school officials of the children
that we transport. The children are picked
up at the location designated by their
school.
Van Rosters: Children are marked in on
the van roster when they are picked up from
school and marked in again when roll call
is taken when they arrive at the AMA After
School Program.
Seating Arrangements: A seating
arrangement may not be necessary,
however sometimes children can be very
distracting when sitting together. A special
seating arrangement may be required if the
driver feels that there is a safety concern of
any kind.
Conduct: All passengers are required to
maintain safe, respectful behavior and to
follow the directions of the driver.
Transportation Captains: Students
are selected to be a Van Captain to help the
driver monitor activity in the vehicle while
driving. The Van Captain is changed weekly.

Facility
Design and Size: The AMA After School Program facilities far exceed the Pinellas
County Licensing board requirements. Our facilities provide adequate room for children
to enjoy their own personal space as well as martial arts instruction, homework, games
and athletic drills.
Cleanliness: All staff members clean daily and show great pride in their attention to
detail. Hand sanitizer is used after snack time and is available at convenient locations.
All training floors are hardwood floors or athletic mats that are easily kept clean and
sanitized.
Safety Precautions and Emergency Procedures
Public School Early Dismissal: We will respond to unexpected school closings
as quickly as possible. Parents will be notified by text message.
CPR & First Aid: The Youth Programs Coordinator and the Staff Member in Charge
maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.
Background Checks and References: All potential employees are submitted
to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for background checks. Employer
references are verified and motor vehicle reports are also investigated prior to
employment.
Lock Downs: Children will be safely escorted and supervised by staff members
to the most secure area of our facility until the potential threat or danger has been
minimized.
Fire Drills: Fire drills are conducted periodically.
13. Page 13
Discipline Policy
1. Warning: Give clear and concise direction of what you expect of a student and
explain the rules.
2. Self-Mat:The disruptive student receives a time out in a specific area. A self-mat is
a 1 meter by 1 meter mat that provides a quiet sitting area for a child to calm down for
a short amount of time. The mat provides an “invisible boundary” for the child to collect
him / herself. (The time out does not exceed the age of the child: example: 8yrs old = 8
minutes)
3. Self-Mat with Sentences:The disruptive student will be asked to a complete a
“Think Sheet” to review the inappropriate behavior and get back on track.
4. Loss of a Privilege:Sometimes disruptive students respond well when there are
immediate consequences for inappropriate behavior.
5. Incident Report: Incident reports are written to inform parents of serious, or
continuous, behavior problems that a disruptive child is struggling with. The objective
is for our team to work together with the
parents as allies so we can help their child
make the necessary behavior correction.
6. Youth Programs Coordinator
Calls Parent:The consequence for
the disruptive child is agreed upon with
parent(s). A child may be sent home if the
behavior is too severe.
7. Dismissal: If a child continually
refuses to follow our rules of safety and
behavior they may be dismissed from our
program in order to preserve the positive
experience for the other children and our
staff.

Full Days Off From School
Sign Up: Parents are requested to signup their child in advance for a “Kid’s Camp”
when public schools are closed. This is necessary so proper staffing ratios can be
determined. AMA After School members receive a $20 discount compared to non-
