Underground MRT stationThe government has came up with the idea of underground shopsand high rise buildings to overcome the limited land constraint inSingapore.This is linked to the principal of good governance- anticipatingchange and staying relevant.The government hired professionals to plan our country’sinfrastructures and resulted in our country’s development today. Ourcountry’s economic prosperity was thanks to our government’s greatforesight is great leadership
  8. 8. Marina Bay SandsThere are local brands that have expanded overseas such asSingTel and Robinsons. Other local brands such as Gongcha havenot expanded overseas mainly due to its age in the economy. TheMBS has to depend more on services in order to open up to theworld and improve tourism and provide jobs. These help ensure theeconomic prosperity of Singapore.

Innovative structures/ideasMotion Sensor fans near the Central Business District (CBD)Innovative structures like motion sensor fans help to conserve theusage of energy by switching itself off when no movement isdetectedAnother example of innovative structures or rather idea is theplanting of trees along the pavementThe MBS worked with local as well as foreign investors to set upshops in the MBS.
  10. 10. Good governanceHow does this relate to good governance? “Leadership is key” is the main factor to help boost Singapore’s economy. By having great foresight and the ability to anticipate change and staying relevant, our government has worked with MNCs to invest in Singapore
  11. 11. Good Governance (II)By anticipating change and staying relevant, our government hasimplemented the installations of devices like the motion sensorlights and fans in school toilets. This helps save energy and in turnsave costs and resources. Electricity is also generated through solarcells found at the top of the fan and thus reduce energy usage.

Good governance(III)Through ‘A stake for everyone, opportunities for all’ ,thegovernment considered the thoughts and feelings of locals andacted accordingly by implementing these measures…$100 levi for entering the casinoAnother implementation is the banning of family members whohappened to be addicted to gambling

How has our Government made all this possible?Careful management and optimism of limited resources through aterm comprehensive to planningAdopting a green technology ,systems and practices to achieveenvironmental sustainabilityAchieving a balance between development and providing a goodquality of life whilst preserving the environment

ConclusionOverall, Singapore’s development and economic prosperity is linked to ourgovernment’s great leadership and interrelated with the principals ofgovernance, like the development of the Marina Bay Sands which greatlyboosted Singapore’s economy and resulted in our country’s prosperity byincreasing tourism and creating employment
