Used in quantitative estimations of colors.
In physical chemistry, colorimetry is a
technique used to determine concentration of
colored compounds in a sample solution at
visible region (400nm-800nm)

3. COLORIMETRY PRINCIPLE
Intensity of solution ∝ concentration of sol.
(if concentration ↑ = dark colored solution)
Every substance absorb certain wavelength of
radiant energy .(eg. Chlorophyll)

dilute solutions

4. ULTRAVIOLET (UV) SPECTROSCOPY
In region of electromagnetic spectrum, atoms &
molecules undergo electronic transitions .
Excitation of electrons to higher anti-bonding molecular
orbitals .(lower the energy gap b/w HOMO & LUMO
=longer the wavelength of light absorbed
