This document summarizes a student project to design and build an elliptical trainer bike. Four students - Pradeep, Sukhdev, Vimal, and Ashish - constructed a prototype cross bike that provides a full body workout with low joint impact while burning calories similarly to a treadmill. The project involved using various shops and machines across campus, including welding, fitting, sheet metal, machine, carpentry, and blacksmith shops. The students launched their working prototype bike and learned valuable lessons about teamwork, tool usage, dimensioning, and applying theoretical physics to practical models.

8. OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

4. The market leader of this product is a brand called ElliptiGO whose range starts
at 1999$ (roughly 1,30,000 INR excluding taxes). So we have made this
prototype with least expenditure and we can reduce its price to 5000-6000 in
market.
5. Scientific studies has shown that as the stride is lengthened, more calories are
burned without any higher rate of perceived exertion by the user.

18. OUTCOMES AND LEARNING FROM THE PROJECT
1. Every little man made thing which looks simple , is not that simple. It
takes a lot of efforts to reach to that design. So never take things for
granted.
2. Learnt how to work in a team.
3. Learnt how to use different tools in various shops.
4. Our cutting, filing, drilling, welding, hammering, carpentry skills
improved a lot.
5. Learnt why dimensioning is an important thing (Earlier we didn’t use
to consider so)
6. Learnt how any thing can be made better if theoretical physics is
applied better in practical model.
