1. Affirmative (Positive) Sentence
Subject Verb 1
I, We, You, They Verb(Present)
He, She, It Verb -e(s)(Present)
● For positive sentences, we do not normally use the auxiliary verbs.
● If 3rd person singular (He, she, it) comes as a subject –(e)s is added to the simple
form of the verb.
Example: We like cycling.
She draws plants and animals.
2. Negative Sentence
Subject Auxiliary Verb 1
I, We, You, They do Verb(Present)
He, She, It does Verb(Present)
● Auxiliary verbs “Do and Does” are necessary to use.
● I, We , You, They – Do.
● He, She, It (3rd person singular) – Does.
● -(e)s is never used. It is only used in affirmative sentences.
Example: We do not like cycling.
She does not draw plants and animals.

● The Auxiliary verb Do and Does are used in the beginning of the sentences.
● I, We , You, They – Do

Use 1: Repeated Actions
Use the Simple Present to
express the idea that an
action is repeated or
regular. The action can be
a daily event, a habit, a
hobby, a scheduled event
or something that often
happens.
Use 1: Repeated Actions
Example:
① I walk to school
every day.
② He usually gets up
late on Sunday.
We use the Simple
Present for statements
that are always true:

Example:
① The sun rises in the east.
② Paris is in France.
③ Fire is hot.
This use is often related
to timetables and events
in the calendar:
Use 3: Future reference
Example:
① The train leaves tonight
at 6 PM.
②The BTS sky train arrives
at the station every 5
minutes.

“What I do with my friends”
I have two good friends. They are fun to
be with and we enjoy doing many things
together. We often go cycling, swimming,
skipping and running. We often go to the park
to meet other friends too. But the thing we like
to do most is drawing. We can draw plants and
animals. We once took part in a drawing
contest. Although we did not win any prizes,
we enjoyed ourselves very much. We had so
much fun.

Affirmative (Positive) Sentence Subject Verb 1 I, We, You, They Verb(Present) He, She, It Verb -e(s)(Present) ● For positive sentences, we do not normally use the auxiliary verbs. ● If 3rd person singular (He, she, it) comes as a subject –(e)s is added to the simple form of the verb. Example: We like cycling. She draws plants and animals.

  • 12. Use the Simple Present to express the idea that an action is repeated or regular. The action can be a daily event, a habit, a hobby, a scheduled event or something that often happens. Use 1: Repeated Actions Example: ① I walk to school every day. ② He usually gets up late on Sunday.
  • 13. We use the Simple Present for statements that are always true: Use 2: Facts or Generalizations Example: ① The sun rises in the east. ② Paris is in France. ③ Fire is hot.
  • 14. This use is often related to timetables and events in the calendar: Use 3: Future reference Example: ① The train leaves tonight at 6 PM. ②The BTS sky train arrives at the station every 5 minutes.
  • 15. Text 3 “What I do with my friends” I have two good friends. They are fun to be with and we enjoy doing many things together. We often go cycling, swimming, skipping and running. We often go to the park to meet other friends too. But the thing we like to do most is drawing. We can draw plants and animals. We once took part in a drawing contest. Although we did not win any prizes, we enjoyed ourselves very much. We had so much fun.
