2. • In more ways than one my School magazine front
cover uses the general codes and conventions of
media magazines. I have used a masthead and
made sure it is a different font to the rest of the
magazine, I have used subsidiary images to show
what the featured articles are about, I have
showed featured articles on the front page, used
a bar code and displayed the price and date, I
have stuck to a certain colour scheme and used
the correct font size for the sub text.
3. I have met a lot of the codes and conventions of a
contents page too. I have used three columns, I
have displayed the date and title in the top left
corner of the page, I have displayed the page
numbers in chronological order, I have put
advertisements on the page, I have a “main image”
but not covering the whole page and I have stuck to
a colour scheme. I also have only used one image
and should of used more images to show what is in
each category
4. I used quark and photoshop to create my
contents page. Quark is used in industry to
create magazines so it seemed appropriate to
use it for my contents page. For the Front cover I
used photoshop as it is easy to manipulate
images and create text. I found it easier to use
photoshop than I did Quark only because I knew
how to use photoshop better than I did Quark.
5. • Photoshop and quark are used in the industry.
Photoshop is used more for manipulating
images and quark to do the actual page. This
is because photoshop has more tools to use to
manipulate images such as Colour corrections,
black and white, exposure ect... whereas
quark has more tools to help you layout your
page with things such as Guidelines, cropping,
columns ect...
6. • The strengths of my front cover is that it is basic
so the customer doesn’t get distracted but it also
manages to attract the attention of the customer
as the title and colour scheme stands out. Also I
have the date and price which gives the customer
the right information about the magazine. The
featured articles are on the front but in my
opinion do not stand out as well as they should.
The front cover is a bit too plain as the picture is
under exposed and the colour scheme is a bit
boring.
7. • I didn’t use the same colour scheme on the
contents page as I did with the front cover. The
problem with this is the fact that my magazine
can no longer be recognized by its colour scheme.
The colour scheme on the contents page is better
than the front cover as it uses a wider range of
colours and it stands out a bit more because the
background is just plain white. The articles are
easy to find as I have put the page numbers in
chronological order and made the text stand out.
