2. What is Feminism?
•AT its core,feminism is
the belief in full social,
economic, and political
quality for woman.
•Feminism largely arose
in response to western
traditions that restricted
the rights of women but
feminist thought has
global manifestations and
varitious.
3. Character of Lady Macbeth
•Lady Macbeth is conflict character
•Sometimes seems like she is fourth
witch
•She is the main reason for the reveling
of the Macbeth’s part in the usurpation
of the Throne.
•She does not reveal the secret of their
murderous deeds because she is women
and thus inherently weak, but she
reveals the secret because she is a
woman and thus has been selectively
isolated from finding stregth in murder.
4. Dialogue –Lady
Macbeth
“(puck) my nipple from (my child’s)
boneless gums, And (dash) the brains
out, had I so sworn as you have done to
this”
Thou wouldst be great art not without
Ambition, but without the illness should
Attend it.”
5. Lady Macbeth Victim
or Monster
Lady Macbeth herself mimics the
way they speak, ”which shall to all
our nights and days to come, Give
solely sovereign sway and
masterdn,” thus makes the readers
associate her with these
supernatural entities and therefore
giving her a monstrous auro.
Another explanation would be that
this is a using her to act as
puppeteers within the Macbeth’s
lives; making her, once again a
victim of the her husband’s
unnatural ambition.
6. Psycological view on Feminism
Sigmund freud’s view that Macbeth and Lady
Macbeth are two parts of the same person.
(Gothic protagonist & identity)
Freud: They are “Like disunited parts of a
single psychical individuality.”
Isador H.Coriat
“She is not the victim of a
blind fate or destiny or
punished by a moral law,but
affected by a mental
disease.”
