2. Requirements For The Brief
Time: advert should last about 60 seconds (one minute)- our advert was around 1
minute 22 seconds although about 20 seconds of that was the credits and the
viewing of the logo.
Target audience: youth audience: Our group met the requirement for the age
appropriate as all the context was appropriate for our target audience.
East London theme: I think that our theme was linked to a east London theme as
we filmed in a park and talked about going off to the gym. Also we wore clothes
that any other teenager in east London would wear.
Amount of shots (more than 9) – we met this requirement as we had about 12 to
15 shots in total.
3. An schedule and
deadlines for
editing
I think in total it took us about 4 to 5
editing lessons to finish off the final
version as it didn’t really take us long
to film our original advert. We never
really where on track with the editing
schedule as we did some editing
outside of our lesson time to ensure
that we complete the editing and
meet the deadline which we did (21st
of march). As you can see too the right
of the page is our evidence of booking
the editing suite. As I said we never
really kept track with the editing
schedule as we didn’t write down on
what particular days we did editing
but we did the best we could to
ensure that we met the deadline.
4. The quality and suitability of the rushes/
raw material
So basically we filmed all the footage in one day( in around 30 minutes to 1 hour). Although the
conditions that we filmed in weren’t too pleasant or too friendly, we still managed to film what we
wanted as time was not a problem for us. Our shooting schedule was organised as we shot
everything in order so that we didn’t get confused or so that we didn’t forget to shoot other
scenes. I also thought that the footage that we shot was acceptable and free of technical
problems. We didn’t need to reshoot after that day as, only if something went which didn’t apart
from a small error in the last scene (bottle handling/print), even if we did need to reshoot we had
no problem as everything in my group were always there to help edit and plan the schedule as
because if we needed to reshoot, it obviously makes sense to do it immediately while sets and
actors are still available, which for we was always ready for. We prepared for the footage with our
storyboard which helped us a lot with our vision or creating something spectacular for the advert
which I though had done. However, we did have trouble when filming as it was raining during the
shooting, which kept us back more than expected so we had to cope with that which we did. On
the other hand, I though that the rain made our advert more authentic and unique in a way as our
advert was to do with tap water which again links to rain water as not everyone has access to
water like we do, which hopefully sent out a message to take water for granted.
5. Capturing/ digitising the footage, logging
it, storing and labelling it
So we used a DSLR camera to film our advert and it weren’t the best HD camera
but we managed to cope with that. So after we shot all our footage we uploaded
on to the mac’s to start off editing the footage so that we could put all of the
footage together and create this advert that we were aiming to do. So how we did
this was by placing all the footage into one file. After that we straight opened final
cut pro and open up all the file where all the footage was so that then we could
cut down and trim the footage to put it all together to make this whole sequence
of moving image throughout for one minute continuously. Afterwards, when all
the editing was done we exported our final version and uploaded it on to
YouTube and here’s the link below to access it:
