2. Duration-3:00
It all begins with a young Daniel getting ready to go to school whilst watching a
montage of protest videos, paying no mind he picks up his scrap inspiration paper,
pack folder and begins his journey to school.Daniel, now a grown adult reminises
back on his childhood with intentions of still pursing his dream of becoming an
actor.By the end of the music video Daniel does not get the job, this is due to
nothing but racial discrimination which I will try to clearly show.Whithin the music
video there will be alot of refrences to names of victims who were failed, injured
and killed by the hands of the police, why I did this is explained on the next slide.
Due to the impact of COVID-19 and the UK being in a lockdown which began
on March 23rd 2020 I have only managed to shoot the first half of my video
still following the same concept.
3. Why have I chosen this concept for my music video?
I have chosen this concept for my music video because I believe it’s not talked
about enough. Statistics show that on average, 24% of applicants of white British
origin received a positive response from employers, compared with 15% of
minority ethnic applicants applying with identical CVs and cover letters. I also
wanted to show the unjust situations that have occurred in the UK by police
brutality, this is because whilst everything was happening with the BLM movement
there was a lot of Uk residents who believed and persisted the violent situation
with the police and black people in the Uk did not exist.
4. Feasibility
My video is very straight forward, the only thing I will probably struggle with is
making it clear that it was the colour of Daniel skin that stopped him from getting
his dream job other than that my video does not use or need advanced knowledge
on eg graphic effects and photoshop.
5. Genre and Theme
This song that I have picked fits in with the hip-hop/rap genre. With the deep lyrics
and the title ‘Superheroes’ which focuses on empowering and encouraging black
children to reach their their full potential. It also focuses on the powerful BLM
movement which is a massive talking point across the world right now.The lyrics
are words that black youth need in this time of crisis.
Aims and Target Audience
My target audience is for young people between the ages of 10-25 and my aim is
to raise awareness and help them understand that job descrimination actually
happens in real life.Rather than intimidating my target audience my music video
will raise awareness, encourage them to work harder and push boundaries.
