art since I was young.

My name is Ng Yan Yi, 19 years old. I was born in Perak, in 1998. I am a Graphic Design
student in Saito College. I always have a passion in art.
I am interest in typography, branding, packaging and web design. During my free time, I like to
drawing and internet browsing to search something regarding to design.

The reason why I study graphic design is I
have huge interest in design. I love to design
newthings and design beautiful things will
make me feel satisfy and happy. So, I want

5. My PASSION
Since I was young, I realized that art and design is my passion. I’m a person that love
travelling, food, design and music. This things make me feel happy .
I always wanted to build my career that I am passion about it, that is what the reason
keeps me going until now. I’m also trying improve and learning on things that I am
passionate about even though I make mistakes. I always tell myself don’t be afraid to
make mistakes there are none, just be afraid of not learning from them.
I will do very best and at the same time, I also open minded to new challenges that
comes to me.

PACKAGING

I’m a person that very interest to collect different kind well
designed packaging. So, when I study Graphic Design,
packaging is a subject that I’m very looking forward.
Through this subject, I have learn how to approach a
package design project, and before coming out a package
design you must do much research and experiment.I also
have learn that packaging is not only the beautiful of
outlook design but the functionality that able to protect the
product is the most important.

In this subject, packaging mock up and the finishing are
challenging for me because it demanded a lot of hand
on through cutting, measuring and folding.
Every detail in the process is very important because it
will affect the whole structure of the package. So, a well
designed packaging will easily attract people’s attention
and will let them decision to purchase.

TYPOGRAPHY
When I getting started this subject, I’ve realized that typography is possible one of the more
accessible parts of learning graphic design, simple because of how easy it is to change and
to play around with the text.
This Gill Sans type specimen booklet assignment is done in typography 2.

In typography classes, I’ve learnt that different fonts bring different feels.Typography can
communicate meaningful and impactful messages as well as emotional expressions. I’ve also
learn the typography hierarchy that using colour or varying text sizes to create emphasis and
a good structure in the content.
I had using Adobe After Effect to done this kinetic typography video.

In this subject, I had learnt how to use design software
like Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe
InDesign. These software and skills are important for a
designer.
In CGD 1, Adobe Illustrator is the first software that I use.
I learnt the basic skills of using the pen tool to trace. In
CGD 2, I basically use Adobe Photoshop to done my
movie poster design. When faced with does not do, I also
with the help of youtube tutorials.

In CGD 3, I had to use Adobe InDesign to design brochure and magazine. I would say
that I like these assignment compared to those in CGD1 & CGD2. Because I have
interest in arranging layouts and creating visual hierarchy to let readers easily to read.

This is my QUIVO brochure design that I had done in my CGD3 classes. I would say that
I like to doing this assignment because I like to layout and create something visual. I
choose QUIVO restaurant & bar as my topic of the brochure design is because I love this
restaurant very much. It embodies an informal yet sophisticated ambiance perfect for
both work & leisure. The open style serving counter & plain in sight wood-fired oven bring
a great energy to the place.
Besides that, QUIVO’s food also very delicious.The rest of the concise many features
Mediterranean favourites with a few innovative twists apparent.I write the content and put
interesting images of QUIVO in the brochure so that the readers would continue reading.
In order to make it stand out, I also make it be creative in the layout, flow and bodycopy.

14. Internship experience
3 months flies faster than I thought, before I start my internship in Dentsu One company I’m a
bit nervous and worried because my English is not really good enough. I’m worried about I
cannot reach their requirement and cannot understanding what they are talking about.
Actually, I do not expect that I can have my internship at here. Because Dentsu One company
is a big and well-known company. I think that will very strict and I also know where my abilities
are. When I can able internship at Dentsu One company, I’m really grateful for the opportunity
to learn and work with the creative people at here and also can deisgn for real client. I really
enjoy working at here because of the office environment and work culture. Also, the senior
willing to teach us and helped us the things that I don’t know.
During my internship, I assigned to Creative Department that responsible to design visual or
propose idea. They give me the opportunity to participate in various type of different brands
like Honda, Bridgestone, TIME, Proviton, Pixy, Moist Diane and Cream-O. The skills and
qualifications I think I have gained from internship programme was my design skills and art
direction has improved a lot ever since I joined here. I also learnt a faster and efficient way to
do design from senior.

15. Internship experience
After the internship programme, I had experience how the industry started their job from
received the brief until the completion of the job. I also learnt so many from the progress. The
internship experience is really different when I’m study at college. The internship let me
experience the real working life, real working time and working environment. As an intern in
this company, I know I really not good enough than the other. But I try to improved myself,
listen the advice from the senior and do the work better. I believe that now I’m not good
enough, got made mistakes, but I think learnt from the mistakes is the way to let me improved
to become better.
